With the majority of the excruciating pre-season fitness out the way the balls began to come out this week as clubs kicked off their friendly fixtures. A chance for players to stake a claim for a starting role in the competitive openers and a chance to slip into their new boots for the upcoming campaign.
Manchester City striker Alvaro Negredo turned out at Hearts at the weekend wearing a white-out version of the Warrior Superheat boot. Negredo who has been contracted to adidas looks to be testing out the silo and if Warrior could pull off a deal then it would be a huge signing for the American brand.
Arsenal kicked off their pre-season campaign with a 2-0 win over non-league Boreham Wood. As well as the new PUMA away strip getting a run out, Tomas Rosicky laced up in his own customised leather version of the special edition evoPOWER set to be worn exclusively by Arsenal players when the new season begins.
We've seen bags full of custom HyperVenom colourways since the boot emerged on the NikeiD store last year and Alex Brosque slick blue/white combo is up there with the very best. Brosque and his team-mates were training ahead of friendlies against Newcastle United and West Ham later this week.
Long term Umbro player Steven Fletcher looks to be using pre-season to test out other brands as he laced up against Darlington in the Nike Mercurial Vapor X. Fletcher has worked closely with Umbro for the past few seasons but may be close to cutting his ties with the brand in search of a deal with the Swoosh.
As the Predator journey flicks over another chapter to the Instinct Dundee United's Michael Gardyne is still holding onto his trusty adiPower silo. Originally launched in 2011 the adiPower built a large fan-base, which was further enhanced by the lack of enthusiasm from traditional Predator fans around the LZ.
From the old to the new. Aaron Ramsey lead a youthful Gunners side to their 2-0 win over Boreham Wood wearing the launch colourway of the adidas Predator Instinct. The 14th edition of the famous boot dropped in a traditional black/red/white combo as adidas kick start their Pred 20th anniversary celebrations.
Fluminense's Conca continued to wear his all white Mizuno Morelia's at the weekend. Conca has been a long time Mizuno player throughout his career but has recently began to wear an all-white somewhat disguised version of the heritage boot.
It wasn't a bad week for Toni Kroos. The German international won the World Cup on Sunday before signing for Real Madrid just a few days later. During his unveiling at the Bernabeu Kroos slipped into the new 11Pro colourway after refusing to wear the Battle Pack design in Brazil.
Manchester City's new signing joins Vincent Kompany as another Warrior athlete at the Etihad. Fernando completed his move from Porto earlier in the summer and could well have another Warrior team-mate should Negredo switch permanently into the brand.
