With the juggernauts of the football boot world moving away from the traditional elements of speed-boot design in 2015, the launch of the Umbro Velocita might just be a stroke of genius. The Velocita Pro focuses on the fundamentals of speed while taking the odd design cue from its competitors, but it's by no means a bootleg.
The Umbro Velocita packs some nifty tech, sitting proudly on top of a newly designed lightweight sole-unit. Made up of round conical studs in the mid-foot to aid acceleration, the rest of the outsole is made up of diamond shape studs to offer extreme traction.
A redesigned skin sees the benefit of using a single, one-piece Tejin synthetic upper, giving the boot a degree of natural elasticity. Umbro's unique A-Frame system embedded into the upper helps to give a more natural and seamless fit. The tech doesn't stop there, with the heel-counter featuring an embossed padding for added comfort and a real sculptured feel.
Weighing just 166g, Umbro's lighest ever football boot, the Velocita Pro will definitely put the cats amongst the pigeons. What's more, the launch colourway is wonderfully dubbed "Nimbus Cloud/Dark Shadow/High Rise/Pink Glo". Of course it is.
The new Umbro Velocita Pro is available from select Umbro stockists including Pro-Direct Soccer. As always, let us know what you think in the comments below.
