In 1924, the same year Umbro was founded, Everton won the ‘Barcelona Cup’ in Spain wearing royal blue shirts, white shorts and dark navy socks. Taking inspiration from this strip and using modern performance technology Umbro have created a new uniform for the 2014/15 season.
The lightweight home shirt come in classic Everton blue and features a textured micro shadow stripe and a shaped, dropped hem for improved fit. A woven grandad collar in dark navy with a concealed top button completes the smart visual. The club crest and Umbro logo are embroidered in white stitching whilst the top eyelet on each side of the shirt is in the shape of the iconic Toffee Tower, giving a unique sign-off for the club.
Of the kit Everton manager Roberto Martinez said: “The fans, players and staff make up the fabric of this football club and I am proud to be considered a part of that. Umbro has created a unique technical kit which I’m sure both players and fans will be proud to wear. It has been inspired by our Club’s glorious past, however its quality and design are very much for the modern day era and I remain confident it will help us to perform to our full potential on the pitch in the Premier League and in Europe.”
Umbro's new Everton campaign celebrates the 'fabric' of football, the 'fabric' being the connection between the players, staff and supporters. To support the campaign Umbro have created a film fetauring 11 people who capture the ‘Fabric of Everton’ including, Tom Gardner - the oldest living ex-player, John Manville - Everton's painter and decorator since 1978, kit man Jimmy Martin and current players Phil Jagielka and Ross Barkley. Nice work Umbro, glad to see you back in the game.
