New boots, new signings and a new Premier League kit deal has seen fresh life breathed in to Umbro in recent months and the ball just keeps on rolling. Last year the British brand re-vamped their Geometra silo by launching the Geometra II and now it's back with two new White/Cloisonne and Black/Orange colourways.
The previous update to the Umbro Geometra II was a daring black/pink colour-combo that spread across all three of the brand's boot models including the newly introduced GeoFLARE. In line with the Black/Orange Speciali IV, Umbro carry the same colourway across to the Geometra II while adding a White/Blue alternative to the mix.
The classic white and blue design harks back to the quintessentially British brands heyday. The White/Cloisonne paint job sees the white upper accented by the famous diamond logo in blue, blue offset laces and a blue sock liner, creating a clean and simple design that's hard to fault in the looks department.
Revamped in 2013, Umbro's headline control boot has evolved from the first incarnation into one of the games underrated performers. Combining the tradition of a k-leather upper with new materials, the boots use a specially designed herringbone grip surface across the forefoot that's designed to offer improved grip in wet and dry conditions.
Incorporated into the Umbro's bespoke A-Frame Support System are two dampening control pads, the top of which is packed with HF Memory Foam to aid ball cushioning and control. The off-set lacing combines with the larger-spanning A-Frame Support System which is designed to offer a secure fit across the mid-foot.
Carried over from the first-gen model, the lightweight TPU outsole uses the same stud configuration that's designed to aid quick directional changes in the midst of a game. With a recent run of new releases and surely more to come in the lead up to the World Cup, it's good to see Umbro firmly back in the game.
Both the Black/Orange and White/Cloisonne Umbro Geometra II football boots are available from select online stockists including Pro-Direct Soccer. What do you think of the new colourways? Let us know. Join the conversation online, on Twitter and on Facebook.
