Continuing their colourful array of football boots, Umbro have released these Yellow/Silver GT Pro's, which are certainly one of the most eye-catching boots you're likely to see on a football pitch! Grabbing attention is one objective of a speed boot, but check out our full reveal and imagery of the new GT Pro and let us know what you think...
The Umbro GT Pro speed boot is a relative newcomer in the speed stakes having only been around for 12 months, compared to some of the more established ranges. However, where non of the rival brands can compete is the price, as the GT Pro is available for just £85 GBP / $150 USD / €105 EURO.
Taking on the likes of adidas, Nike and Puma in the speed category is quite a formidable task, but it's not one that Umbro are shirking. With a sleek, strong and lightweight design the Umbro GT Pro football boots have been able to turn more than a few heads.
The new yellow/silver colourway is another outrageous release for the GT Pro's, ideal if you play for a team like Villarreal but interesting for any other player, as surely you couldn't not notice them on-pitch! Another great thing about these boots it they're available on both sides of the Atlantic.
So for the speed and touch fans, let's find out technically what the Umbro GT Pro soccer shoes have to offer. The upper of the new GT is crafted from a soft Japanese Teijin micro-fibre, which Umbro claim gives greater comfort and fit. The upper is a one-piece material, meaning no seams and a reduced weight, and the touch gives good grip like the best non-slip surfaces.
The GT Pro is Umbro's lightest ever boot - weighing in around mid-230 grams (UK size 8). Okay, so it's not quite adizero or Puma v1 territory but this still marks a significant achievement for Umbro. Combined with the other performance enhancements (and not to mention the sub-£100 price) the Umbro GT should be a serious contender if you are in the market for a new speed football boot.
The stand-out feature of the Umbro GT Pro soccer cleats, which interrupts the smooth upper, is the TPU "A-Frame Cradle". This functional component supports the midfoot area and aids heel lock and the overall fit, boot slipping is an issue for players so the 'Flywire-esque' A-Frame helps to lock the foot in position.
Interestingly, Umbro have utilised a conical sole-plate for outsole performance, a proven formula over the decades, and enhanced as it's able to flex at the fore for great acceleration. For additional protection and stability the Umbro GT Pro football boots integrate a pre-formed and contoured internal heel counter. Plus for comfort and shock absorption, the moulded sockliner has strategically positioned perforations and Poron inserts.
As they're a speed boot there's sure to be a strong reaction to the new yellow/silver Umbro GT Pro football boots. And you can pick up the 'newbie' to the speed community for around £85 GBP / $150 USD / €105 EURO, available in the US from mid-August we can expect to see the yellow GT's hit UK shores from November.
