The Umbro Stealth range is relatively new to the boots market, but in such a short space of time the range has already undergone a dramatic overhaul with Umbro ditching the synthetic upper in favour of leather. With Umbro positioning this boot within the 'control' category, it makes sense for Umbro to utilise the added feel and touch a leather upper brings to a football boot.
Visually, the Umbro Stealth II looks more sleek and streamlined than its predecessor. The Umbro logo has moved from the side of the boot to the outside front and provides embossed medial grooves designed to offer greater touch and purchase. The logo has proved to be quite a contentious issue, it's certainly not subtle but then neither is Nike's, adidas' or Puma's branding.
The Umbro Stealth II Pro football boots can already rely on a respectable fleet of pro wearers, with positions and styles of play that vary across the pitch. Since their launch, we've seen the likes of Gael Clichy, Phil Jagielka, Wilson Palacios, Jonas Gutierrez, Gary Cahill, Diego Capel and Kyle Walker all sporting the Stealth Pro II.
To enhance the performance of the leather, the Stealth II features embossed medial grooves across the inside of the forefoot to increase
surface area contact with the ball for better purchase, greater control
and increased accuracy. These grooves also feature microfibre encased air pockets, embedded directly into the supersoft full grain leather to ensure a sensitive and fantastic feel of the ball.
A central lacing system, incorporating a concealed bottom eyelet for a better fit and more control, offers a conventional boot fit for comfort. Which is further enhanced by a cushioned insole and cushioning around the ankle and heel.
Fitting snugly across the metatarsals, the Umbro Stealth II Pro soccer cleats feature a cushioned tab under the tongue, that not only helps protect against injuries in this vital area but also increases comfort when shooting.
For increased speed, optimal energy transfer and comfort, the Stealth is built on a slim and lightweight yet stable last. With two lateral studs in the middle of the boot combining with conical studs configured for traction.
The new Umbro Stealth II Pro football boots are available to order now and are expected to retail for around £90 GBP/ $140 USD / €110 EURO / ¥12500 JPY.
