American sports giants Under Armour are ready to take another stab at the speed market with the release of the Blur CBN III. Entering the Blur series as a completely redesigned incarnation, the Blur CBN III boots offer a fresh attacking update to the brands underwhelming line of existing speed boots.
The Under Armour Blur CBN III football boots are a noticeable step up in design and performance from the previous Blur II. Newly engineered and constructed to compete with the lightest and fastest boots in the game, the Blur CBN III could be Under Armour's best football boot yet. Take a look and let us know what you think.
The modern day speed boot must meet certain criteria. The Under Armour Blur CBN III has made its intentions known by smashing its previous weight barrier. Now weighing just 177g, the boot has the credentials to stand alongside the f50 adizero, Mercurial Vapor VIII, evoSPEED 1 and Morelia Neo. This is Under Armour's first true speed boot.
The dramatic loss in weight for the third generation Under Armour Blur lies in the boots upper material. Under Armour have used a newly engineered microfibreELITE material – a lightweight upper that wraps around the foot in design offers extremely thin and flexible properties for a great fit and feel.
In unique fashion, the Under Armour Blur CBN III incorporates carbon fibre into the outsole and lateral side of the boot. Carbon fibre 'lateral wings' have been designed to eliminate foot roll. Combined with an off-centre lacing system and an anatomical heel construction, the Blur Carbon III delivers one of the most secure, supportive and stable boot designs in the game. In Under Armour's words, they're 'the ultimate direction-changing machine'.
For the outsole, Under Armour use carbon fibre combined with a Pebax plate to offer enhanced lightweight support and stability in the heel and mid-foot when making sharp lateral movements. Five conical studs feature across the forefoot, combining with a more balded design towards the mid-foot and heel area.
The Under Armour Blur CBN III offers plenty of cushioning and under-sole protection. A 4D Foam foot-bed provides optimal comfort while reducing boot pressure. The insole keeps you lower to the ground, increasing stability and shock absorption. A bottom layer of Micro G provides additional support and responsiveness.
The Dark Orange/Metallic Silver/Black Under Armour Blur CBN III football boots are available to pre-order now and will retail worldwide for around $200 USD / £160 GBP. Let us know what you make of their latest design? UA's best boot yet? Join the conversation online, on Twitter and on Facebook.
