The Under Armour Dominate Pro football boots are now being made available to the public after many months of development and play testing by players in the UK, including Fulham's Bobby
Zamora, so now we can give you the official low down on these new pro
standard football boots.
The Under Armour (UA) Dominator Pro is the second release and is aimed at power players who want "power, protection and stability". As part of the first generation releases from Under Armour, the Dominate Pro is designed to offer "power and protection" with responsive cushioning and durabillity. There is plenty to talk about with both these
boots, which only goes to show UA's commitment to providing top quality
products.
First impressions of the Dominate Pro is that this is a no-nonsense boot, aimed at players who don't need gimmicks or elaborate enhancements. The boot is solid and sturdy and aims to combine tradition with technology. Like its' Create brother, the Dominate utilises a "Modular Protection Zone" or MPZ which aims to give added power and support. This is positioned across the front of the boot creating a strong striking area, obviously aiding the boot's power credentials.
The most impressive feature the Dominate Pro lays claim to is the
moisture management properties the upper offers, so the boot is highly water resistant! The leather upper certainly benefits from this as even when wet the boot gives create ball grip and touch. Of course, it also means the Dominate Pro should remain lighter wthout taking on excess water weight, meaning you can gain the upper hand on even the soggiest of pitches.
The sole and stud configuration is designed to reduce stud pressure and
offer increased cushioning, whilst the specific stud placement is the
result of research and development aimed to offer increased "metetarsal
support and directional stability". Both colour ways will be available
in 6 stud soft ground and fixed 14 stud firm /hard ground sole plates -
however the soft ground versions are expected to cost £10 GBP more than
their firm ground counter parts.
Our initial play test of the Dominate Pro gave great feedback and one major positive Under Armour have done is create a series of boots which offer a great deal of comfort, support and an excellent fit. The asymmetrical lacing means the instep is clean for inch-perfect passing and ball striking, adding to the excellent support in the external heel counter gives.
Already available to pre-order in the US, the Under Armour Dominate Pro is due for release across the UK and Europe in Summer 2009
with expected retail prices of £130 GBP for the soft ground edition and
£120 GBP for the firm ground edition.
