After making serious waves last week with the signing of Mario Balotelli and the special edition evoPOWER Stampa, it's back to business for PUMA who have launched a double dose of evoSPEED updates. Welcome the all new evoSPEED SL, styled and launched alongside the standard model in a Blue/Peach design.
An SL model is something PUMA have practiced before and now with the latest generation evoSPEED settled into the market, the brand have decided to give it a holiday trim in time for the new year. Both models have been given a stylish lick of paint with the standard editions scheduled to hit European pitches from 2014.
It's business as usual for the evoSPEED 1.2, a boot that's enjoyed a successful 2013 building an impressive stable of new players - most notably Arsenal and Spanish midfielder Santi Cazorla. The boots monolayer microfibre upper has been handed a rather tasty Blue/Peach outfit that's sure to be a hit on the field. The colourway will also be released in a k-leather edition.
For the SL model PUMA have taken new measurements to create a sleeker, more dynamic and lighter boot at just 160g. A newly worked perforated upper made from Japanese microfibre synthetic reduces the weight, while the lightweight sole-plate uses a combination of nylon and pebax with a bespoke traction stud system.
The latest Blue/Peach colourway has already made its way onto the feet of Premier League players over the holiday fixtures and will be worn by PUMA's evoSPEED line-up from 2014. The standard model will continue as the pro-boot choice for PUMA contracted players, while the SL editions will be given no on-field support.
The new Blue/Peach PUMA evoSPEED football boots are available from selected stockists including Pro-Direct Soccer. What do you think of the colour update and the new SL model? Let us know. Join the conversation online, on Twitter and on Facebook.
