The latest design is more retro KING than previous editions, which will be welcomed by PUMA traditionalists. The KING is renown for comfort and durability and although the design has progressed in recent seasons, those two important factors have remained. Both the standard versions and the super-light editions are featured below.
For many players a heritage boot can only be black, but these days a bit of colour doesn't go a miss . The new Black/White/Blue PUMA KING ticks that box while adding splashes of blue across the upper, heel and outsole. A good match for Manchester City's Yaya Toure who's expected to switch into the new colourway.
The PUMA KING SL strips everything back to create a boot that weighs a super slender 171g – for what is essentially a heritage silo that is seriously impressive. PUMA want to cater for players who demand a heritage look with lightweight design. The upper is constructed using a Japanese premium microfibre material with leather like properties so you still get that traditional feel for the ball.
The standard edition PUMA KING is the lightest KING model ever made, weighing just over the 200g mark. A respectable weight for any boot that's made with a traditional leather upper. The super-soft premium material adapts to the natural curves of the foot for exceptional comfort and ball touch.
The lightweight Pebax outsole on the standard issues uses a mix of conical and traction studs to ensure an equal balance between flexibility, grip and manoeuvrability, while the external heel counter with classic KING branding gives improved heel fit and extra stability to protect you from achilles grinding tackles.
