PUMA have landed their first King colourway of the 2013/14 season, joining their recent colour updates across the evoSPEED and PowerCat series. This is the sixth addition to the re-worked King line and is certainly the most gutsy yet.
The latest King arrives in an unfamiliar combination of colours - Peacoat/White/Blue/Pink to be precise. OK, visually we're not feeling it as much as previous King designs - it's taken a bit of a beating from the ugly stick (not all of you will agree with us on that) but under the hood it's still packed with proven, quality PUMA King goodness.
In the modern game, no boot is safe from experimentation. The King may be the brand's most iconic silo, but as PUMA have shown over the years, they're not afraid to spice it up with new flavors and designs. It was always going to be hard to follow the winning White/Red/Black design and the super-suave King Lux, but if you like a splash of pink on your boots (who doesn't these days) then you're in luck.
The new colourway has also been released in an SL version but here we're taking a look at the standard editions. The PUMA King has been reworked to deliver a lighter boot than previous generations, weighing just over the 200g mark. The upper of the boot is made from a super-soft premium leather, which adapts to the natural curves of the foot.
The lightweight Pebax outsole uses a mix of conical and traction studs to ensure a good balance between flexibility, grip and manoeuvrability, while the external heel counter with classic KING branding gives improved heel fit, extra stability and added protection.
The new peacoat PUMA King colourway is available now from selected stockists including Pro-Direct Soccer. What do you reckon? Let us know. Join the conversation online, on Twitter and on Facebook.
