Borussia Dortmund have revealed their new PUMA home and away shirts ahead of the 2013/14 Bundesliga season. PUMA launched the new Dortmund strips in a unique way, the brand created the new home shirt out of more than 80,000 flowers in Dortmund's Westfalenpark.
PUMA used 80,645 flowers pots, to be precise and equalling the capacity of the Signal Iduna Park, to cover a space of 10,764 square feet. If you're interested, which we're sure you are, the flowers were marigolds as well as black, pink and grey petunias in black and yellow pots. Lovely stuff.
Onto the kits and PUMA have ditched the collar on the home shirt and replaced it with v-neck design as well as adding a black stripe coming down from the under arm on both sides of the shirt with a subtle chequered pattern placed into the material of the shirt, much like the Man United home kit from last season.
The Dortmund home shorts are released in black while the socks are hooped in yellow and black, similar to last season.
The new Borussia Dortmund away shirt is light black with yellow details creating a reverse feel from the home shirt. The shirt features a yellow block stripe across the shoulders with the yellow stripe being extended around the cuffs. We're normally a sucker for a black kit but this all feels a little bit too training wear.
The away shorts and sock are also a dark grey/light black colour with yellow features, a yellow stripe runs down the side of the shorts whilst the PUMA logo is yellow on the socks.
The Champions League runners up kick off their 2013/14 Bundesliga season with a trip to FC Augsburg on Saturday 10th August before kitting up in their new PUMA home strip in front of their passionate home support the following week to take on Bundesliga new boys Eintracht Braunschweig.
