PUMA have joined the boot launch party by giving the evoSPEED 1.2 a new lick of paint. The Red/Silver/White colourway looks pretty fresh and being launched in both leather and synthetic options.
The new colourway will be seen on the feet of Sergio Agüero and Radamel Falcao at the start of the new season and should look good teamed with Falcao's new Monaco kit. Not everyone is keen on the huge Mercurial-esque PUMA on the instep but in this colourway we reckon it looks pretty slick.
According to Puma the fresh aesthetics of the evoSPEED 1.2 football boots are inspired by muscles, tendons, and race cars. Oh yes, you read that correctly, race cars. Puma say their "smooth curves and dynamic airflow lines" are translated into the boot’s graphics.
Designed by Puma for the fastest players on the pitch, the leather evoSpeed 1.2 is one of the lightest firm ground leather football boots available with a supple K-Leather upper that provides fantastic ball feel.
The synthetic evoSPEED 1.2 is made with a softer, lighter than ever microfibre upper for enhanced touch and feel. The upper of the boot also features PUMA GripTex, a 3D transparent print which delivers extra grip to improve touch in wet conditions.
Inside the boot PUMA have designed the evoSPEED 1.2 with their internal EverFit cage, which has been strategically placed in the mid foot for optimal flexibility and stability when accelerating on the turn.
The revamped soleplate from the first evoSPEED has been optimised for penetration and increased manoeuvrability utilising Duoflex technology with smaller moulded conical studs. The boot is lighter but PUMA haven't sacrificed durability and protection; the tongue and heel combine with the sock liner to reduce pressure on the Achilles tendon and distribute it evenly.
Both versions of the new White/Silver/Red PUMA evoSPEED football boots are available to buy from selected online stockists including Pro-Direct Soccer. What do you think of the new EvoSPEED's? Join the conversation online, on Twitter and on Facebook.
