There's a new addition to the PUMA speed range, as the SL version is launched alongside the standard synthetic and leather editions. All have received a lick of green paint to unify the range, and are released at the start of PUMA's 'The Nature of Performance' campaign.
We've grabbed all three new PUMA boots, to allow you to look and compare the standard versions with the Super Light. It's clear to see the evoSPEED SL has been engineered quite differently and will offer different performance characteristics, but we've yet to hear which versions the likes of Sergio Aguero, Radamel Falcao, Olivier Giroud and Gael Clichy will be sporting.
The evoSPEED has picked up the baton from previous PUMA speed incarnations, and is taking PUMA football boots to a new level. The evoSPEED SL appears to be the pinnacle of the range, but interestingly incorporates technology from past and present, notably the outsole which features on the Ducati and V1 SL.
With a perforated Japanese microfibre synthetic upper, the evoSPEED SL is more lightweight and has a lower speed profile. The material is a lot thinner compared to the standard versions, offering a more F50 and Vapor-esque performance. Of course, the perforations play to your advantage in warm conditions but less so in the wet, and this design feature is echoed over the toes with indentations offering texture for enhanced boot-to-ball friction.
For the standard synthetic versions, it's business as usual. The one-piece outsole provides stability and support, utilising high-tech materials to minimize weight and to maximize its flexibility and reactivity. The Puma evoSPEED 1 also features an external heel counter which secures an excellent heel fit.
The leather versions feature two grades of material, with K leather adorning the forefoot for premium ball feel and comfort, whilst a tougher more durable leather is fitted to the midfoot/heel area and is stitched at the Formstripe. Both synthetic and leather versions share the same outsole design, differing from that of the Ducati and evoSPEED SL football boots.
The colours scheme for all three new evoSPEED football boots is as eye-catching as ever from PUMA, with a Green/Blue/Yellow combination and a White Formstripe. If you want to go fast you've got to be seen, appears to be the mantra in the speed category, and as you'll have seen from our collection of eclectic PUMA speed boots, PUMA do 'colourful' very well!
As expected there are varying prices for the different evoSPEED options. All boots are available to pre-order from November 20 ahead of December 1st launch, with prices worldwide for around £195 GBP / €235 EURO / $275 USD (evoSPEED SL), £140 GBP / €165 EURO / $170 USD (synthetic) and £150 GBP / €180 EURO / $200 USD (leather).
The new Green/Blue/Yellow PUMA evoSPEED football boots will be debuted over the coming week in the Champions League and domestic leagues.
