It's not everyday a pair of football boots worn by one of the best strikers in the game arrive at your door. Held aloft, Radamel Falcao's boots are a piece of football memorabelia, the boots he scored a hat-trick wearing against Chelsea. They should belong in a museum, but instead we're fortunate enough to photograph and share them with the SoccerBible audience...
It's been just over 12 months since Radamel Falcao became an official PUMA player, and whoever made that final decision to sign the Colombian hotshot must be patting themselves on the back every single day. Because Falcao is the hottest property in football right now, and is continuing a meteoric rise to the top.
An up-close look at the footwear of a world-class player is quite an unprecedented opportunity, and it's all thanks to PUMA's For Real campaign. We've gathered quite a collection for you to win, and in partnership with SoccerBible, have already run competitions for match-worn boots from Cesc Fabregas, Yaya Toure, Sergio Aguero and Mikel Arteta.
We're really quite fortunate for Falcao to offer up his football boots, because as you can see he's particularly fond of them and has certainly worn them in! The first thing to notice would be Falcao has a one-piece upper, whereas the standard versions are two-piece stitched around the formstripe and with stitching patterns, Falcao requests a pure one-piece.
Like a battle-scarred warrior, the boots show tell-tale signs presumably from opposing defenders, notably on the fore area of both boots and also the formstripe on the right boot. But it is quite awe-inspiring to look upon these worn boots, and realise that's the material that connected with the ball to score those significant goals.
In similar fashion to Cesc Fabregas and Michael Carrick, Falcao has his boots custom fitted with a King sole-plate with a conical mixed stud design. The stand-out feature here are the additional soft-ground studs, which actually look quite lethal and are almost running spike-esque. But PUMA have done a tidy job fixing this outsole, which is both glued and pinned.
Thanks to PUMA, we landed this pair of Falcao's match-worn evoSPEEDs, but they won't be with us for long as we're giving them away to one lucky SoccerBible fan. Stay tuned to SoccerBible for more opportunities to win match-worn boots from more of PUMA's top players including Marco Reus, Mario Gomez, Ibrahim Afellay and Gigi Buffon.
PUMA are giving us unprecedented access to their players, to not just get an up-close look at these football boots, but to also be in with the chance of winning them is a once in a lifetime opportunity.
