After a debut by Cesc Fabregas, SoccerBible has got our hands on a pair of the new Puma PowerCat 1.12 football boots, to give you the boot fans the most up-close and revealing look at the brand new PowerCat on the web.
Cesc Fabregas, Puma’s latest and newly announced global football asset, launched the
PowerCat 1.12 on pitch during Saturday’s FC Barcelona La Liga match against FC Sevilla. Although the boots have been on pitch for a little while, in the form of whited-out wear test pairs, now Puma have fully unveiled the PowerCat 1.12 in this White/Blue/Gold launch colourway.
It's been one of the most talked about boots in recent months, so what can we expect from the all new PowerCat
1.12. As a performance boot, it features advanced Puma technologies and has been designed for
power players, the boot is a combination of engineering and comfort and has had a design overhaul so it looks completely different to the previous incarnation.
New lead player Cesc Fabregas commented, “The boot seriously impressed me. Playing in midfield is so physical, I
need a boot that gives me power and protection, but comfort is also really important and this
boot offers it all. The PowerCat 1.12 Boot is without doubt the best boot for me that I have
tried, and gives me a lot of confidence to perform on the pitch.”
The stand-out feature of the new PowerCat 1.12 is the 3D DUO Power Shooting Technology, applied to the
kicking area on the inside of the boot. Made from an innovative thermoplastic material with two
different degrees of hardness, the boot has the advantage of being both highly responsive with
extremely high rebound properties.
The newly created Puma 3D PST DUO technology enables improved grip on the ball through
its exposed elements, and instead of absorbing the energy it increases the kicking power of the
player. The kicking area employs a soft K-Leather while the lightweight microfiber material in
the lateral quarter supports the midfoot and helps to keep the weight of the boot to a minimum.
The Puma PowerLast, an evolution of the Puma AptoLast, follows the foot’s natural contours,
providing a glove like fit allowing the upper to mould to players fit. Coupled with the stable yet
flexible outsole, the PowerCat 1.12 gives the best possible comfort. Optimal support, stability
and protection are provided by the asymmetrical external TPU-injected heel counter.
The long-anticipated successor to the PowerCat 1.10, Puma's new power boot is ready to impress and with the recent release of the Nike T90 Laser IV and adidas Predator adiPower, the Puma PowerCat 1.12 finds itself competing with some of the hottest boots on the market!
In addition to Cesc Fabregas, the PowerCat 1.12 football boots will be worn by a number of other international
Puma players including Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic, and Juventus players Gianluigi
Buffon and Giorgio Chiellini.
The new Puma PowerCat 1.12 football boots go on sale from 1st December and are expected to cost around £135 GBP for the soft ground versions and £130 for firm ground. And with Puma's recent on-pitch resurgence seeing plenty of stars switch into the Formstripe, we'll be keeping an eye on pitches around the globe for boot spots of the new PowerCat 1.12.
