Not content with releasing their lightest ever football boot in eccentric Team Yellow and Parachute Purple colours, the Puma v1.10 SL football boots return in this Fluorescent Orange colourway! Check out the SoccerBible's full and exclusive images right here...
Okay so they may no longer hold the title for being the lightest production football boots on the market, but it seems one area the adizero Prime will never trump the Puma v1.10 SL is in colours, because the SL remains something of an enigma in the speed market.
The Puma v1.10 SL football boots are quite an incredible boot not just visually but technically also, thanks to a combination of innovative materials and engineering to create one of the lightest boots on the market - weighing in at just 150grams (5g heavier than the adizero Prime's).
It seems that Puma have quite a loyal fanbase, and this new Fluorescent Orange/Blue Aster/White colourway may just appeal to their more quirky side, and certainly reinforces Puma's reputation for interesting colour combinations!
What's surprised us though is there hasn't been an overwhelming player uptake for the v1.10 SL football boots, which could be down to the fact the boots are more reminiscent of a running shoe than a football boot. Players who wear the standard v1.10 have remained in the v1.10, so really the only player of note to successfully make the transition is Samuel Eto'o. Perhaps an issue the designers need to address when they draw up the second installment of the SL, which will surely trump the 145g of the adizero Prime.
However, the boot is a great stand alone boot and a great example of innovation and technology. The Puma v1.10 SL upper is made from a superlight microfibre synthetic material, which is soft for comfort and ball feel, and provides slightly more padding than the adiZero.
Like the rest of the v1.10 range, the SL features a central lacing system with a soft and lightweight tongue, constructed to provide breathability. Puma's v1.10 SL football boots have been engineered to revolutionise movement and increase player speed. Inspired by the highly limited concept boot - the Puma v1.815 Ferrari - this new model now comes to the masses as the speed boot category gets ever lighter.
The out-sole and external heel counter of the Puma v1.10 SL football boots has been engineered from a revolutionary Thermoplastic. The Pebax material offers outstanding mechanical, physical and chemical properties, by bridging the gap between thermoplastics and rubbers. In short, this means the v1.10 SL's out-sole offers stability, durability and support at a fraction of the weight. And is further complimented by a Carbon Fibre insert in the out-sole, enhancing player movement through reactivity, flexibility and mid-foot stability.
The new Orange/Blue/White Puma v1.10 SL football boots are expected to cost around £185 GBP/ $275 USD, and are available to pre-order from selected retailers on 9th February.
Another eye-catching release from Puma, we'd love to hear your opinions...
