SoccerBible has been given an exclusive look at the very first pair of limited edition Kehinde Wiley inspired Puma v1.10 football boots. These stunning new football boots are a collaboration with the artist Kehinde Wiley, who has taken the new Puma v1.10's and outfitted them with one of his signature graphic prints, inspired by the bold colors of Africa.
Only 302 pairs of these eye-catching v1.10 football boots have been produced, and we were fortunate to get our hands on pair number one! Puma are leading the preparations for both the 2010 African Nations tournament and the 2010 FIFA World Cup 2010, and these special edition Puma v1.10 football boots will be worn by some key African players.
Kehinde Wiley has gained worldwide acclaim as an artist, because of his portraits of African Americans depicted in classical poses and set against signature bold graphic backgrounds. And it is one of Wiley's brilliantly coloured patterns that adorns the lace-cover and instep of these limited edition Puma v1.10 football boots.
Kehinde became the inspiration for these new Puma football boots, after Puma recognised in his work: "Intensity and passion are two words synonymous with his creations; they also capture the spirit of what it is to be a football player and fan."
The Puma v1.10 football boots are the next evolution in Puma's v1 speed range, and they are the most innovative and radically designed boot we've ever seen from Puma. Performance comes from a combination of synthetic materials that give a great touch, feel and strike of the ball. And the
microfibre upper covering the fore-foot, along with the new lace-cover provide a clean kicking surface.
Speed performance comes from the new one-piece outsole, featuring a variety of materials including carbon-fibre. Embedded into the forefoot, the carbon-fibre distributes pressure
and reacts to the foot flexing. In the midfoot of the sole-plate there
is a TPU reinforcement shaped into a 'V' to help with stability and
prevent the midfoot bending. And the studs are mounted on a lightweight
frame, and shaped for smooth ground penetration to optimise traction.
There is no doubting the Puma v1.10 football boots are a top-end performance boot, and the Kehinde Wiley designs make them completely unique and very special editions. Puma wearers Samuel Eto’o, John Mensah and Emmanuel Eboue are expected to proudly sport these African inspired football boots, and we can expect to see them on-pitch around early December. As an added bonus for the World Cup in Africa, all three players will sign their boots, which will be auctioned off in 2010 to benefit Puma’s charity of choice for the World Cup.
Only 302 pairs of these stunning Puma v1.10 Kehinde Wiley football boots have been manufactured, as the number reflects the 302,00000 km2 area of the African continent.
These collectable football boots are available to pre-order now ahead of an 11th December release, featuring exclusive Kehinde Wiley designing, these Special Edition Puma v1.10 football boots are expected to retail for around £140 GBP.
