With the Flaminio Stadium is not one known solely for the art that is football, it has played host to rich history of the game. A venue for Italia 90, its connection so richly portrayed with the game front and centre goes back several decades.
A stadium and complex built in Rome for the 1960 Olympic Games, it is as artful as they come. Architecturally raw, a pure stadium that offers a shell to the sound and a home for the fans, what's left still stands tall despite being unused and abandoned in these shots. A state it has been in since 2011.
Bringing this powerhouse of emotions back to life in photographic form, Lorenzo has captured the spirit of this stadium that lives on. Far beyond any spectator, this is a beautiful sanctuary that surely deserves some football attention, surely?
Kudos go to Lorenzo Zandri for shooting it in such a fashion. You can see more of his work, here.
