Embroiled in yet another bout of controversy of the highest order, a pickle would be no way to describe the latest accusations that have tarnished FIFA. Acclaimed illustrator Dan Leydon has produced a number of pieces that paint the headlines that have swept global tabloids. With one Sepp Blatter resigning from his position, there seems like no better time to share this work. Dan gave us the inspiration for these designs - the lead image entitled 'Sepp', is what Dan describes as 'A comment on how Sepp sees football and money to be inextricably linked.'
'Welcome to Brazil' - made after the Brazilian government drafted in massive amounts of riot police ahead of the World Cup to quell protests against the tournament and what it stood for within Brazil.
'Visit Rio' - I wanted to collide the exotic holiday of a fan with the real experiences of the protesters on the streets.
'Silencio' - Since I saw that free kick spray I knew it'd work itself into a drawing well.
'Manacles for Goalposts' - I made this to draw attention to the ongoing tragedy happening to Nepali workers due to the construction of the stadiums in Qatar. I was in Kathmandu last year and a man I met said there were on average four body bags a day being sent back from Qatar.
'FIFA' - The more football is played, the more money stacks up for FIFA.
Heavy days at FIFA HQ no doubt. See more of Dan's work here.
