Another Premier League season comes to an end, legends depart and the foundations are set for the next wave of legends to be created. We look back on an emotional week of football to pick out the best customised, signature and latest football boots on show.
It's crazy to think the PUMA v1.06 silo has now been around for a decade. Originally launched in 2005, the boot has evolved over ten years into the evoSPEED 1.3 but that didn't stop Middlesbrough forward and PUMA enthusiast Albert Adomah lacing up in a pair for the Championship Play-Off Final. Boro lost to Norwich 2-0 but if it's any consolation, and it definitely isn't, Adomah had the best boots on show.
Wayne Rooney was amongst a number of players to slip into the low-cut Hypervenom Phinish as the boot rolled out at the weekend. Nike's newest silo update took centre stage on the final day of the Premier League season and still has a big part to play in the 15/16 season in respective cup finals.
Romelu Lukaku opted for the Dynamic Fit Collared Phantom version of the new Nike Hypervenom II. The Everton striker is no stranger to the hi-top silhouette having already laced up in the Mercurial Superfly IV and was sporting the second-gen Hypervenom on a busy weekend for the updated silo.
Lead Mizuno played Keisuke Honda provided an unexpected look at the next Wave Ignitus III colourway this week. The third-generation has been around since June 2013 and there's still no sign of fourth-gen in the making. Instead, Honda laced up in a predominantly black boot with pink details that will land as the next colour update.
Aleksandr Sukhov was another player to give a run out to one of the original speed boots this week. Lacing up in the first generation adidas F50 adizero Sukhov was in action for Russian outfit FC Ufa wearing the solar yellow/black boot worn at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
The hottest custom colourway of the week came via the feet of Dijon's Abdoulaye Bamba. The all black Nike Mercurial Superfly IV was given the simple but perfect finishing touches with a splash of red on the Swooshes and laces for an all round beaut of a NikeiD job.
Xavi waved goodbye to the Nou Camp at the weekend after a remarkable career for his boyhood club. The Barcelona icon was laced up in a signature Predator Instinct boot as adidas marked the occasion in exclusive style. An incredible footballer and a rare one in that he showed sincere modesty throughout every one of his many successes.
Preston returned to the Championship in emphatic style on Sunday with a 4-0 win over Swindon in the League One Play-Off Final. Paul Huntington found the back of the net wearing a blacked-out version of the latest adidas 11Pro silo but the plaudits went to Jermaine Beckford who fired in a hat-trick at Wembley.
Steven Gerrard was on the scoresheet but on the wrong end of a 6-1 scoreline in his last ever Premier League game on Sunday. The Liverpool legend closed the curtain on an distinguished Premier League career wearing his commemorative Predator Instinct boot. Gerrard's last ever LFC boot was joined by Liverpool's new New Balance 3rd kit.
We've not seen an awful lot of the adidas 11Pro SL mainly due to the brand preferring their athletes to stay in the standard edition of the boot but Edinaldo Grafite displayed a pair this week. Weighing a tad lighter than the 11Pro the SL's split colourway design holds a strong on-pitch presence.
After jumping the embargo gun last week in the unreleased Nike Magista Obra colourway Paul Pogba reverted back into his crazy customised Obra this week. The white upper of the boot is plastered with numerous symbols, wording and numbers as the Juve man featured one of the most unique customised boots of the season.
