Kicking off the week in standard style we've picked out our selection of the hottest boots on show from the past seven days. Custom colourways, old school classics, the latest footwear, it's your who's wearing what from another busy week of action.
Arsenal's Carla Humphrey was in action for England U19's this week wearing her NikeiD Mercurial Superfly IV boots. Helping her side secure qualification with a 3-1 win over Switzerland, Humphrey, whose prolific form in front of goal earned her a first professional contract earlier this year was sporting an all black upper with custom turquoise splashes on the heels and laces.
Walter Gargano may well have become the first player to play a competitive game wearing the next generation of adidas football footwear. The Napoli man slipped into the blacked-out prototype version of adidas' next chapter of football boots at the weekend, a boot that until now, has been kept on the training pitches via Gareth Bale, Thomas Muller and adidas' crop of contracted 'speed' players. Our lips are very much sealed as it stands...
Thought Marouane Fellaini was the king of the afro? Think again. Leicester's highly-rated youngster Hamza Choudhury has phenomenal volume, and ability to match with a number of top clubs apparently combing around his beautiful barnet. Whilst still learning his trade in the youth set up Choudhury has resorted to blacking out his 'Shine Through' Magistas, a policy adopted by many pro academies.
Mizuno's lead striker Hulk moved into a new Morelia Neo colourway at the weekend. The Brazilian forward laced up in the "Yellow/Black" combo, which has yet to hit the shelves, as Zenit St Petersburg drew 1-1 with Rubin Kazan, Hulk scoring the equalising goal from the penalty spot.
We're moving into Copa Mundial season as the pitches become firmer across Europe but for Kaka now plying his trade stateside, the Orlando City captain has kicked off his season in the famous boot. Despite the fact that a blackout Copa now exists, the former Ballon d'Or winner has taken matters into his own hands by disguising the stripes on his boots for a dark look to the upper.
Crystal Palace's fine run of form continued at the weekend with a 4-1 win at Sunderland. Yannick Bolasie helped himself to a hat-trick wearing his blacked-out Nike Mercurial Superfly CR7 boots, a boot which he has hidden the 'CR7' branding and Swoosh to create an understated look while maintaining all of Nike's most modern technologies.
Peruvian side Aurich were in Copa Libertadores action this week, which gave Deyair Reyes a chance to give Joma some on-pitch time. Joma boot spots are becoming a rarer sight on the professional scene due to the small amounts of contracted-brand players but Reyes continues to represent the Spanish brand in South America wearing the Super Copa speed silo.
Ok, this wasn't a 'real' football match and Mal Loye isn't a 'real' footballer, he's an ex-England cricketer in fact, but it's hard not to include a pair of adidas Predator Manias when they rarely surface. Now 13 years old and widely regarded as the greatest Predator silo of all time the takedown Manic edition of the boot was dug out of the archives by Loye for the Leon Barwell Charity football match at the weekend.
Another Leicester City youngster to give his Nike footwear the blackout treatment was Ben Chilwell. Blacking-out the entire white upper of his 'Shine Through' Hypervenoms Chilwell has created a stunning colourway that amplifies the bold graphics on the Swoosh, along with the blue soleplate.
Kevin Kuranyi featured in last week's edition of boot spotting wearing a customised blue/white colourway of an old adizero generation. The Dinamo Moscow man, keen to keep his kit/boot combo game on point must have discovered the "Solar Blue" women's specific colour-up of the boot in the past seven days as he switched into them to score the winner in a 2-1 win over Mordovia Saransk.
The top boot/kit combo of the weekend goes to Portland Timbers' Jamaican defender Alvas Powell. Using a black/deep red combination on the Nike Magista Obra, Powell pulled off a tidy in-line look with the Timbers corresponding adidas strip. He may have jumped the gun on an unreleased colourway but it's hard to blame him. Very smart indeed.
Yaya Toure obviously isn't getting on so well with the second generation evoPOWER boot after reverting back into the first generation in recent weeks. Opting for the "Pool Green" colourway Toure and his side lost bragging rights in the city finding themselves on the wrong end of a 4-2 scoreline against the red half of Manchester.
