As the January Transfer Window is unlocked it's not only clubs that players are switching. We've picked out the best of the boots on show from the past week as players switch footwear, jump the embargo gun and get creative with custom jobs.
After debuting his own signature pair of 'C4' evoPOWER boots last week Cesc Fabregas switched into PUMA's camouflaged version of the next-generation boot. The purple design was released last week as the brand tease in their new look evoPOWER 1.2 in typical PUMA fashion.
Fernandinho opened the scoring at Goodison Park on Saturday wearing a semi-blacked out pair of adidas 11Pro boots. We can see two possibilities here; One being that the Brazilian simply doesn't like the split stripe on the upper and prefers a black boot or that his contract with adidas has expired. One to watch in the coming weeks.
United Arab Emirates' goalkeeper Majed Naser paired up his all black kit with a pair of CR7 signature boots this week. The heavy 'CR7' branding has put many professional players off slipping into his Superfly but not Naser he's making do with them until Nike bring out the MN1 collection.
Yasuhito Endo is flying the flag for Umbro at the 2015 Asian Cup and managed to get on the score-sheet wearing a rare, two-toned blue Accelerator colourway in Japan's 4-0 Group D win over Palestine. A tidy Japan exclusive silo that has yet to make an appearance on European shores.
There was also Asian Cup joy for Uzbekistan as they beat North Korea 1-0 at the weekend. Igor Sergeev was reppin' a pair of the glow-in-the-dark Hunt Series F50 adizero boots, a collection that received minimal on pitch support upon release.
Former Tottenham midfielder Hossam Ghaly was another player in the Hunt Series this week as the Al-Ahly man laced up in the Nitrocharge 1.0, our personal favourite from the collection. As a whole the Hunt Series almost cruised by unnoticed, which is a shame when you consider how decent they look on-pitch.
Congo warmed up for the Africa Cup of Nations with a friendly against Cape Verde. Congo's centre back Marvin Baudry has created a custom orange/black Tiempo V colourway for the tournament and was getting used to his footwear in his side's 3-2 defeat. Too much Um Bongo at half time we reckon.
Lukas Podolski made his Inter Milan debut in the week wearing the limited edition Pure Leather F50 adizero but switched back into the Earth Pack edition at the weekend. We know all about Poldi's love relationship with the F50 from Issue No.2 of the SoccerBible magazine, which is shipping worldwide now, by the way. (excuse the shameless plug)...
From the old to the new. adidas may well be having quiet words with Son Heung Min this week as the South Korean jumped the gun by slipping into the next-generation adizero a few weeks too early at the weekend. The all red design is scheduled to land as the lead colourway but for now adidas are keeping their lips sealed on the tech details.
The Dani Alves boot story entered a new chapter at the weekend as the Barca full back laced up in the Hyper Punch Vapor X colourway. Alves has switched between old Vapor and F50 silos all season and was on show in Barcelona's 3-1 win over Atletico Madrid wearing the Vapor X with a half-arsed blacked-out effort that hid the Swoosh on the instep. Guessing he didn't see the giant one on the out-step.
Jem Karacan is a self-confessed avid boot collector so it was no surprise to see the Reading man wearing a limited edition pair of Revenge Pack Predator Instincts. The 1998 Accelerator re-release went head to head with the 2002 Mania for the hottest boot of adidas' 20th anniversary Predator celebrations.
After training for his new club in the Nike Magista Opus last week Victor Valdes reverted to the boot which he last wore for Barcelona - the Solar Orange adidas F50 adizero. Valdes completed his move to the red side of Manchester last week and is expected to add competition and help develop the already impressive David de Gea.
The fifth different adizero to feature this week demonstrates the variety of the collection as Bahrain's Sayed Shubbar laced up in the lightest of the adizero family - the Crazylight. K-Leather, Crazylight, new-generation, current generation and glow-in-the-dark, the F50 adizero is as versatile as it is popular.
One of the most random boot spots of the week came via the feet of Rodrigo Palacio. The Inter Milan forward was wearing a pair of white/gold/black adidas adiPURE IV boots, originally launched in May 2011. A strange choice for a Mercurial Vapor X player but digging a bit deeper it appears that Palacio used to wear the adiPURE IV when he played for Genoa, Inter Milan's opposition at the weekend.
