This year was a groundbreaking year in the world of football innovation. New technology, game changing design and boot rooms full of limited edition products. Over the past few months brands have began to lace their contracted players up in their next projects, all scheduled for a 2015 launch. Here's our training ground slice of what to expect next year...
The new year will mark the second generation of the PUMA evoPOWER. Since the launch in January 2014 the evoPOWER has gone on to become one of the break-through silos of the year with a strong player presence and a series of killer colourways but now it's time for PUMA to take things to the next level. Cesc Fabregas, Nemanja Matic and Olivier Giroud have all been spotted wearing the next-gen boot that is expected to feature subtle improvements.
Things are about to get seriously shaken up at adidas HQ. 2015 will mark big changes for the brand's on-pitch line-up as a couple of completely alien silos have been spotted on the feet of their professionals including Iker Casillas and Xabi Alonso wearing blacked out prototypes. A prominent rubberised texture on the forefoot of the boot indicates that adidas are ready to roll out a new type of control technology.
Lotto will be looking to secure more of the market share in 2015 with the fifth generation of their Zhero Gravity boot. Udinese's Danilo has been testing the update which has the potential to land with some serious visuals thanks to the messy straight-lined pattern that dominates the upper. A sleek design for us, if Lotto get the colourways right they could be back on the right tracks in the new year.
The most intriguing prototype to come out of the adidas lab so far this year has been spotted on the feet of Thomas Müller. adidas are set to pick up serious pace in 2015 to follow up a significant 2014 for the brand and they've been using Germany's World Cup winning forward to test their new projects. The most distinctive feature of the mystery adidas boots is the new material surrounding the topline are of the boot, a sock-like material that extends up the ankle. Huge year coming up for the Three Stripes.
Warrior's re-brand to parent company New Balance is set to kick in properly in 2015. Warrior's squad of professional players, including recently signed Aaron Ramsey, have been wearing blackout and whiteout football boots with a large 'N' logo on the out-step and so far that's all they've revealed. Next year will mark a new era for the brand which will see them release a completely new and re-branded boot line-up.
Before adidas start to mix things up they're set to launch a new generation of the F50 adizero. adidas have reworked their F50 silo for the sixth time by dropping a boot that features a single, one-piece upper designed with an all over scale-like pattern. Gareth Bale has been wearing the cleaner looking adizero, which sees the removal of the rear-foot SpeedFoil material that was used on the early editions.
