Prior to Wayne Rooney making his 100th appearance for England against Slovenia on the 15th November 2014, film maker Laurence Griffiths was granted access by the Football Association to discover how the traditional International honour caps were produced by the people of Toye&Co in Bedworth - the team behind Rooney’s golden centenary cap.
Toye&Co - the oldest fraternal regalia maker in the world - are also the company behind the FA Cup medals and ribbons and were once again trusted by the association to create Rooney’s special garment. Inscribed on the cap, it reads: ‘UEFA Euro 2016 Qualifying Round England v Slovenia, 2014’. 'It's an honour for them to get the cap and it's an honour for us as a company to make them,' one worker admits in the video. Rooney was presented with his 'Gloden Cap' by Sir Bobby Charlton ahead of England's Euro 2016 qualifying match against Slovenia.
