We take a look back at the last seven days to see who's wearing what as the 2014 World Cup kicked off in Brazil. With over half the teams now having played their opening games here's our recap of which football boots have caught our attention.

Mauricio Pinilla (Chile) Umbro GeoFlare

Chile's Mauricio Pinilla is one of few Umbro players at the World Cup this summer. The striker was lined up to wear a green camouflaged pair of GeoFlare boots for his team's opening win over Australia but instead opted for an even crazier design of the boot.

Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal) Nike Mercurial Vapor X

Portugal kick off their campaign against Germany tonight and it'll be interesting to see if star man Ronaldo laces up in the Superfly or Vapor. Nike would obviously prefer to see him in the Superfly due to his heavy involvement in the launch of the boot, but CR7 has been recently training in the low cut Vapor X.

Karim Benzema (France) adidas adizero F50

With Ribery injured and Nasri left behind the focus is on Karim Benzema to supply the goals for France this summer. The Real Madrid striker got off to a cracking start by scoring twice and forcing a third via and OG. Unlike the majority of adidas players Benzema has remained in his slime colourway F50 instead of the Battle Pack design.

Gervinho (Ivory Coast) Nike Mercurial Superfly IV

Gervinho made sure Ivory Coast got off to a winning start by notching a second half winner against Japan. If you live in the UK and stayed up to watch that one then you deserve a medal. The Roma man has laced his Superfly's up with bright yellow laces to match the Nike Swoosh.

Sergio Romero (Argentina) adidas adizero F50

Sergio Romero has blacked out his adidas adizero F50 boots. The Argentina 'keeper had been wearing the Nike Magista Obra in the build up to the tournament but kicked off his side's 2-1 win over Bosnia on Sunday wearing a self-customised all black F50.

Ashkan Dejagah (Iran) Nike Mercurial Vapor IX

Fulham's Ashkan Dejagah will kick off his World Cup campaign with Iran today as they take on Nigeria. Dejagah has been training in a custom Nike Mercurial Vapor IX colourway ahead of the opener, with many World Cup players contracted the custom boots spots are a lot rarer than in domestic football but Dejagah's simplistic white/black colourway looks good to us.

Robin van Persie (Holland) adidas adizero F50

RVP flew out the blocks against Spain on Friday. The Manchester United striker and Arjen Robben blew the defending World Champions to pieces in a 5-1 demolition. van Persie has settled on his ideal boot choice, which features an adidas Predator adiPower soleplate on whatever upper adidas tell him to wear, although he's obviously not a fan of the Battle Pack.

DaMarcus Beasley (USA) Nike Mercurial Superfly IV

USA also begin their World Cup adventure on Monday when they face Ghana. DaMarcus Beasley, who infamously urinated on the pitch at the 2006 World Cup has been training in a prototype Superfly IV, which, it has to be said would be an awesome release should Nike ever release it. WC stands for World Cup DaMarcus. Remember that.

Albert Adomah (Ghana) Puma evoSPEED BMW

Albert Adomah is no stranger to boot spotting, he's featured on numerous occasions in numerous different boots over the past few seasons playing for Middlesbrough. The boy has got one hell of a boot collection and he's been training in the limited edition PUMA evoSPEED BMW editions ahead of his country's opening match with USA.

Mathieu Valbuena (France) Nike Mercurial Superfly IV

Boot spotting might be a bit Superfly heavy this week but Valbuena's custom soleplate deserves a mention. The pocket-sized Frenchman has exchanged his carbon-fiber plate for glass-fiber plate with a standard six stud design.
