The List | 10 Of The Best Touchline Bust-Ups - Football News

Last weekend saw not one, but two touchline brawls. We all get a little bit angry with one another on the field from time to time and sometimes even enjoy watching the odd handbag being swung around, but to see managers squaring up on the touchline is a different thing all together.

Newcastle's Alan Pardew and Atletico Madrid's German Burgo certainly kept us entertained, normally things end with the officials being sent in to calm things down or a manager being sent to the stands, but not a head butt. So with that in mind, here are our top ten favourite touchline bust ups.

Alan Pardew v Hull – We won't be forgetting this one in a hurry, and it could still cost the Newcastle manager his job. Pardew has pleaded guilty to the FA charge – one would assume in a plea for leniency given he didn’t have a leg to stand on. He will be anxiously awaiting the verdict from the FA and indeed Newcastle.

David Moyes v Manchester City – Or more accurately Manchester City's then manager, Roberto Mancini. Moyes was at the helm of Everton and probably endeared himself to United fans far more than he has since taking their job when he sparked a touchline melee with Mancini way back in 2010 that ended with both men being sent to the stands.

Gennaro Gattuso vs Tottenham Hotspur – As anyone who knows the man will tell you, Gattuso is not exactly a wallflower, but sadly for the AC Milan legend, neither is the man he tried to pick on during the Champions League tie, Joe Jordan, who returned the aggression from Gattuso tenfold.

Alan Pardew v Arsenal – Another entry for the infamous Mr Padrew but this was during his time at West Ham and was more handbags than head butts. Padrew found himself in trouble with Arsene Wenger after celebrating his side’s late goal – and as we all know, Mr Wenger does not take dropping points well, and duly found himself fined for the incident!

Jose Mourinho v Barcelona – This could be one of a couple but the former Real Madrid manager went over the top even by his standards when he poked then Barcelona coach Tito Villanova in the eye. Predictable outcry ensued and it certainly added another nail to the coffin for Jose, but a major sanction from the Spanish FA? They didn’t dare.

Arsene Wenger v Tottenham – There had to be one of these in there and the North London derby of 05/06 didn't disappoint. With both clubs vying for the top four, Spurs going on to score a goal when there were a couple of ‘injured’ Arsenal players left on the deck did not exactly go down well with Wenger, sparking a touchline row between both managers which was later broken up by the stewards.

Jose Mourinho v West Brom – Jose has never been known to mince his words, and when he found himself in an argument with Bryan Robson, we knew it wouldn't end well. The war of words continued in the press room, all because Mourinho was defending Didier Drogba who had gone down under a ‘challenge’ from a West Brom player a little bit easily.

David Moyes v Manchester United – When Everton managed to beat Manchester United by a single goal and got Paul Scholes sent off, Moyes and Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson were involved in a rather dramatic argument on the touchline. Given Moyes’ time at Old Trafford so far, we bet Fergie wishes he’d never forgiven him.

German Burgos V Real Madrid – Atletico Madrid's German 'Mono' Burgos literally lost the plot when he tried to attack the referee during last week's hotly contested Madrid derby. Not exactly a small man anyway, he had to be restrained by players and his manager Diego Simeone, who came perilously close to losing the plot himself at times.

Dellio Rossi v Adem Ljajic – One that could simply not be missed off, the Fiorentina coach managed to lose the plot and his job in one single weekend attacking Adem Ljajic, his own player, in the dugout. Ljajic had the audacity to complain about being substituted and after the reaction from Rossi, we bet he wished he hadn't.

Lets not forget two players from Newcastle even had a bust up on the field – do the names Dyer and Bowyer ring a bell for anyone? Can you think of anymore? Let us know. Join the conversation online, on Twitter and on Facebook.
