We've taken a look back at the last seven days of football to pick out the best football boots on show as PUMA dominated the headlines with the launch of their new evoPOWER silo. We're kicking off the week as we always do, with a blast of new colourways, brand switches and limited edition footwear on pitch.
Diego Costa (Atletico Madrid) adidas adizero F50 |
Diego Costa's boot contract is one we've followed very closely since he started blacking out his Nike Mercurial Vapor IX boots. This weekend the Atletico Madrid striker laced up in the adizero F50 as his boot saga took a huge step towards being resolved. Has he signed on the dotted line with adidas? We'll have to wait and see. |

Harry Kewell (Melbourne Heart) adidas adiPURE 11Pro |
Ex-Liverpool midfielder Harry Kewell is currently playing his trade in his home country with Melbourne Heart. The Australian, who has been wearing the adiPURE range for the majority of his career down under slipped into the new white/blue/black colourway at the weekend. A simple looking colourway, which adidas always turn to for a crowd pleaser. |
Mario Balotelli (AC Milan) PUMA evoPOWER 1 |
Mario Balotelli got his evoPOWER game off to a scoring start by notching the games' only goal from the penalty spot to give AC Milan a 1-0 win over Verona. Balotelli is one of the lead players for the new PUMA evoPOWER boot after becoming the first player to wear the new silo competitively and starring at the launch event in Barcelona. |
Nemanja Vidic (Manchester United) PUMA evoPOWER 1 |
Nemanja Vidic, along with Yaya Toure, Phil Jones and Michael Carrick has switched out of the PUMA King and into the new evoPOWER but his first game in the boot wasn't one to remember. Vidic saw red at Stamford Bridge as United went down 3-1 to a Sameul Eto'o hat trick. On a lighter note the evoPOWER launch colourway is a top match for the United home kit. |
Jimmy Kebe (Leeds United) adidas adizero F50 |
Leeds United's on loan midfielder Jimmy Kebe opted for a rarer F50 colourway as he lined up against Leicester on Saturday afternoon. Rather than lacing up in the bright solar paint jobs Kebe grabbed himself a pair of toned down black/white/blue editions, a boot that was an official release but received little player support. |
Adlene Guedioura (Crystal Palace) Nike HyperVenom |
Adlene Guedioura looks to have given his Nike HyperVenoms the NikeiD treatment by completely whiting out the entire upper of the boot to create a clean look. Guedioura kicked off Palace's season wearing the infra-red adidas F50's but since then has switched allegiance to the Swoosh. |
Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid) Nike Mercurial Vapor IX |
Cristiano Ronaldo showed just why he was worthy of winning the Ballon d'Or by scoring an unstoppable long ranger at Real Betis on Saturday. CR7 was in action wearing the Flash Pack Nike Mercurial Vapor IX, a boot that only Ronaldo himself will wear as Nike's other contracted Mercurial players remain in the standard edition colourways. |
Ismael Bangoura (Nantes) adidas Predator LZ |
One of the hottest boot packs from last year was the adidas Enlightened Pack, a quartet of adidas boots with blacked out uppers that featured reflective strips on the stripes and laces. The unique boots were worn just once by all adidas' Champions League players but Nantes Ismael Bangoura has held on to a pair of the Predator LZ's. |
Valter Birsa (AC Milan) Nike HyperVenom |
Valter Birsa is another player who has given his Nike HyperVenoms a custom twist. In the complete opposite style to Guedioura the AC Milan man has blacked out his entire boot to give a look of mystery. From the stands it would be hard to identify Birsa's boots but zoom in and the NikeSkin of the HyperVenom is the giveaway. |
