The season has barely begun, but there are some rather alarming concerns for some teams and hope building for others. The likes of Arsenal and Liverpool are flying, Everton fans are rather happy with their lot as are Southampton with their team sitting in 5th place. Others, such as Manchester United and Sunderland fans are slightly more concerned.

There are some stars emerging too with Oscar and Aaron Ramsey looking rather decent, not to mention new boy Mesut Ozil. With that in mind, we've taken a look at five things we learnt from this weekend’s Premier League, and what could be signs of things to come.



There is hope for Chelsea’s Spaniards – Much has been made of Chelsea’s forwards situation and there is little wonder. Quite simply, all three of them have been awful. Until now. After a promising performance in the League Cup, Fernando Torres earned himself a place in the staring eleven for the derby against Spurs. Torres has never looked sharper, more alert or contributed more. This was the Torres of old and Mourinho saw it.

Things are worse than we thought at Old Trafford – To say that Moyes would have hoped for a better start as Manchester United boss is probably somewhat of an understatement. Even the most ardent of fans will agree that losing to West Brom at Old Trafford is not acceptable. Yes, Liverpool and City were hard fixtures, but West Brom at home? Not something Fergie would have accepted and nor will the fans. United may well have to face the prospect of fighting for a top four finish this season, not the title.



Luis Suarez is back – After making an appearance in the League Cup in the middle of the week, Suarez played and scored twice against Sunderland. The Premier League’s most talented yet troubled player is back with a bang. Liverpool have already had one of the best starts to the season in recent memory for Reds fans, and the return of their main man is a huge boost. Add to this the form of Daniel Sturridge, who grabbed two assists – quite impressive for a player everyone calls selfish – and the team are in tip top shape.



Aaron Ramsey is the best midfielder in the country right now – Arsenal midfielder Ramsey is in fantastic form at the minute, no one can deny it. In a real life example of how Wenger really does know best, the Arsenal manager was right to ignore pressure and critics calling for the midfielder’s head last season. Ramsey has suffered long term injuries not to mention a barrage of criticism, but has come back stronger for it. Goals, assists, you name it, the boy is currently producing it.



City need to sort their heads out – No matter how good they were against Manchester United, all they won were three points. Well, that and bragging rights. To be lauded as producing the best performance of the season thus far is high praise indeed, but then to follow that up with a loss against Aston Villa, all the good work is undone. It was the same under Roberto Mancini; when they are good, they are very, very good. Sadly for City fans, when they lose concentration and are bad, they drop points.
