Quick feet, powerful acceleration and a sharp mind are just a few of the attributes you need to make it to the top and your not going to get there by just playing, you need to train hard and train right. To help you along your way this weeks Want List focuses on the best training aids out there.
Whether you want to work on your agility, strength, focus or speed no man can do it alone. Below you'll find training aids that cover all the basics and more from resistance training to footwork. Wannabe coaches take note too these are some of the must haves for your coaching kit bag.
adidas Speed Resistor - Back in the old days coaches would get players to drag a tractor tyre along the floor but this is a much better option. Designed to help build accleration speed the adidas Speed Resistor links to players, one anchor one sprinter, and allows the anchor to create resistance whilst the other sprints out of the blocks. A nifty quick release belt allows for the runner and the anchor man to swap roles quickly.
Pro Direct Diamond Speed Ladder - Use a speed ladder in training and you'll soon have feet like Messi. Speed ladders can be used for a number of excersises, especially those that focus on movement, speed and agility. This particluar one is quick and easy to set up and comes with a free carry bag, making it easy to transport and store.
Nike Training Cones - There's no more versatile training aid than a set of cones. Whether your doing running drills, working on your dribbling skills or just need to create a make-shift pitch then these will do the job. Durable and brightly coloured, they're easy to spot on the field offering endless possibilities to enhance your training sessions.
Diamond Speed Parachute - Similar to the adidas Speed resistor, the Pro-Direct Diamond Speed Parachute builds muscle for acceleration but also straight line running speed and can be used when training alone. As the chute expands it creates drag, forcing you to work harder which in turn builds overall strength. Just don't go out with it on a windy day!
adidas Reaction Belts - Make sure you have plenty of space around you, put your belts on and MOVE! One of you is trying to lose the other whilst the other guy is trying to stay 'on your back'. The adidas reaction belts are two belts that are linked together with a 'rip' system , training the wearer to develop great reaction speed and evasion skills.
