New season. New shirts. New boots. As the big kick off approaches in Europe and with the majority of new kits and boots now released it got us thinking which boot releases match up best with club's new strips. We understand not everyone wants their boots to blend with their team colours, some players like to stand out, to be unique, but it's hard to deny that a kit/boot colour combo always looks smart.

Black and orange always works for us, it looks stealth-like and you only had to watch Wesley Sneijder play for Galatasaray this pre-season to see how cool the new Nike HyperVenom looks with the Turkish side's new away shirt. To be fair it would look equally as good with the stealth CTR but it's all about Nike's new silo this summer.



The new adidas Real Madrid away shirt is our favourite kit release of the summer, there, we said it. It's the perfect mix between modern and retro that you wouldn't mind wearing off the pitch as well as on it. Combined with the brand's new Nitrocharge (and a dash of rugged good looks) we're tipping Xabi Alonso to carry off the most stylish on pitch look next season.

Manchester City's new Nike away shirt is a beaut, a sleek two toned black design with gold detailing. They may be two different brands but City's Nike away shirt goes hand in hand with the latest blackout adidas 11Pro colourway to complete the ultimate no nonsense look. Gareth Barry is the only City player currently wearing the 11Pro but it's unlikely adidas will let him make the switch as disguising the famous stripes isn't the best tactic for the brand to get noticed.



Red features on more football kits than any other colour on the professional scene so it makes sense that adidas released their most popular boot in a colourway that will match a massive percentage of team kits. With RVP moving into the f50 to join Kagawa at United and Arjen Robben and Bastian Schweinsteiger also wearing the boot, the latest infrared/white colourway is the ideal match-up for Bayern Munich and Man United's new home shirts.



The black and white Mercurial IX is easily one of the best looking boots released this summer and is the perfect match for Juventus' new Nike home shirt. The famous black and white stripes combine with the Mercs to create a brilliantly monochrome look. Although we're not expecting any elite players to wear them, they must have Vapor wearer Claudio Marchisio banging on Nike HQ door for a pair.



The Barca away shirt was met with mixed reactions when it unveiled this summer. Visually we can see why some people think it's a bit dodgy but dig deeper to understand the strong Catalan influence and you'll warm to it. It's one of the brightest shirts on show so we've paired it up one of the brightest boots, the volt Mercurial. La Liga full backs marking Pedro could do with a decent pair of shades next season.
