It might be the off-season and no one is begrudging you that well-earned rest. Don't get too lazy though, you don't want to be the guy always who comes back for pre-season with a beer belly and bad tan lines.
Never fear, we're here with 5 of the best running kicks that not only perform well but look good too. These should give you that little bit of inspiration needed to kick start your pre-season fitness regime.
Nike FlyKnit Lunar1+ | On our recent trip to Rio these were on the feet of Nike's top brass and were the hottest shoes in town. Whether your pounding the pavement or sinking pints in the pub these are the current must haves. The Nike FlyKnit Lunar1+ pairs a virtually seamless upper using Nike Flyknit technology together with the responsive cushioning of a Lunarlon foam sole. They're Nike+ compatible so you can track your training and come in a load of other colours too.
adidas Energy Boost | adidas' answer to the Nike FlyKnit, a trainer that crosses both fitness and fashion, these trainers are not only a cracking running shoe but also look great when worn casually. Featuring the new Boost foam midsole, adidas claim that the Energy Boost gives 15% more energy return than any other running shoe. Perfect if planning long distances to boost your endurance.
Asics GEL Fuji Trabuco | Not the best looking shoes in the bunch, these Asics are mainly here for their performance. If you'd rather head off road than tread tarmac all day then check out the Fuji Trabuco trail shoes. A long standing favourite with trail runners they have a Rock Protection Plate and 90 degree outsole lugs to provide protection and traction on rugged terrain.
Nike Zoom Elite 6 | If you feel the need, the need for speed and spend a large chunk of your time sprint training then these are for you. The Zoom (+) 6 is built for out and out speed and the sixth edition features Dynamic Flywire, that works as extensions of the laces, looping from the base of the shoe to wrap your midfoot and provide an incredibly supportive and customised fit. They look pretty hot too.
PUMA Faas 500 v2 | At Puma they believe that less is more. The stylish Faas 500 is a minimal neutral trainer which has been updated to a lighter version for 2013. The new model brings the heel-to-toe ratio down to 4mm and puts the foot in a more natural and steady position. They only come in the Green/Black colourway but that's fine, we're fans so you should be too.
