We take a closer at one of the most advanced goalkeeper gloves in the game - the Reusch Argos Pro G2 Ortho-Tec. Reusch have long been known for making some of the best gloves in the world and pioneering some of the newest ranges in removable ortho-tec finger protection technology.
After recently giving these gloves a play-test, we can now present some of the key features up close with our exclusive in-house photography. The glove is available in a selection of new colourways. Featured here is the stylish blue/white/lime design.
The glove point of entry on the Argos Pro G2 features a fastening wrist bandage, designed to add comfort and give extra support. The wrist bandage also features Reusch’s own pull on loop which is a clever addition on boned gloves, due to the difficulty of getting on the second glove. An annoying problem all goalkeepers experience!
The removable ortho-tec system allows you to unzip the backhand and adjust the bones you use to completely customize your needs. The individual removable sticks completely adapt to the shape of your fingers and the inner construction allows you to grasp without the the bones restricting movement.
The thumb is also boned adding to the overall protection. They come with an ortho-tec toolkit which makes adjusting your protection even easier. The simple device allows you to slide the bones completely in or out of the finger in seconds.
The gloves also use Reusch’s new “keep control” feature which is designed around the inner side of the small finger. The material is negatively stitched and covered with the highly functional palm latex. Along with the latex gussets, it is designed to provide the small finger with extra control and keep the ball from slipping when throwing. The latex of the keep control feature is a different colour to highlight this feature.
The palm itself features Reusch’s new G2 latex which has taken their hugely popular G1 latex to the next level in terms of grip in both wet and dry conditions. Its abrasion resistance qualities are designed to make the palm stronger as well as provide cushioning when facing up to the fiercest of shots.
The glove also features expanded finger tips which are designed to maximise the palm, in particular the part around the tips of the fingers . The upshot of this design improves the contact area of the glove whilst catching and therefore gives a higher level of safety and control. The fingers of the glove also feature the expanse cut where Reusch have stitched the outer seems to enlarge the palm and once again enlarge the area of contact.
