The best way to start your week and what a bumper SoccerBible boot-spotting we have for you! Following a action-packed weekend of world football, we bring you the best selection of spots from around the globe. From Wembley to the MLS, see which boots have caught our eye this week.
Sergio Aguero (Manchester City) PUMA evoSPEED 1 |
Lead evoSPEED wearer Sergio Aguero gave his first performance wearing the latest update to the PUMA speed line - the 'Orange/White/Ocean' evoSPEED 1, although they look more red than orange to us! Manchester City beat rivals Chelsea 2-0 at the Etihad Stadium, with fellow PUMA athlete Yaya Toure opening the score-sheet. |
Riccardo Montolivo (AC Milan) adidas Predator LZ |
For a boot that we weren't massively keen on when we first set eyes on it, the new UCL colourway for the Predator LZ is growing on us! As seen here on the feet of AC Milan midfielder Riccardo Montolivo, the Yellow/White/Pink design has received a strong player uptake across Europe and is really standing out on pitch. |
Wayne Routledge (Swansea) adidas f50 adizero |
The headline event of the weekend saw Swansea City romp their way to a record breaking League Cup final victory over Bradford City. Each of the Swans adidas players were wearing commemorative adidas boots, personalised with 'Wembley 2013'. Wayne Routledge was one of a handful of Swansea players to wear the new Blue/White/Pink f50 adizero colourway. |
Peter Odemwingie (West Brom) adidas f50 adizero |
They're up there with some of our favourite adizero colourways. The new Blue/White/Pink f50 design is gaining momentum in domestic leagues across Europe. Want away West Brom striker Peter Odemwingie showed off his synthetic adizero boots - the blue colour really pops in comparison to the leather boots. Odemwingie recently tested the Mizuno Morellia Neo but it looks like he's sticking with the adizero for now. |
David Beckham (PSG) adidas Predator LZ Custom |
There was no word from adidas about a custom colourway to mark David Beckham's PSG debut, but the former LA Galaxy midfielder took to the field for his first performance with his new club wearing a great looking pair of miadidas Predator LZ boots. Becks had been training in his signature pink colourway in the build up to the game, but in typical Beckham fashion left it late to steal the show with his new design. |
James McClean (Sunderland) Nike iD Mercurial Vapor IX |
Renowned boot fanatic James McClean is always one to keep an eye on when it comes to his footwear. The Sunderland striker has been spending some more of his free time on Nike iD, most recently creating these customised Nike Mercurial Vapor IX boots. McClean had been wearing the Fireberry launch colourway, but has traded those in for a darker alternative, bespoke with an luminous swoosh only available through Nike iD. |
Peter Crouch (Stoke City) PUMA PowerCat 1.12 |
Stoke striker Peter Crouch was in action for The Potters wearing the refreshing White/Orange/Ocean PowerCat 1.12 boots as his side took on Fulham at Craven Cottage. Crouch is a confessed fan of black boots, but he couldn't resist given his boots a fresh update for the remaining months of the Premier League season. |
Mikel Arteta (Arsenal) PUMA King |
Another man in updated PUMA boots this past weekend was Arsenal midfielder Mikel Arteta, who took to the Emirates pitch wearing the White/Orange/Ocean standard edition PUMA King football boots fitted with a mixed sole-plate. We've spoken to Arteta on a number of occasions and he's a huge fan of the latest King model so we bet he was excited to get into the latest colourway. |
Steven Fletcher (Sunderland) Nike Mercurial Vapor IC |
Steven Fletcher was partnered with his new striker partner Danny Graham for the first time this past weekend when Sunderland travelled to West Brom, but the Scot couldn't find the back of the net wearing his personalised Nike Vapor IX boots, hitting the wood work on one occasion. West Brom's Mercurial man Lukaku was the star of the show, netting twice in his sides 2-1 win. |
Juan Mata (Chelsea) adidas Predator LZ |
There has been no confirmation yet from adidas regarding Juan Mata, but it's looking more like they have pulled off one of the signings of the season, luring the Chelsea midfielder from Nike. Mata was in action wearing the new UCL colourway of the Predator LZ for his sides trip to Manchester City. The boots were a good match for Chelsea's away strip. We expect Mata to be confirmed as an adidas player very soon. |
Fernando Torres (Chelsea) |
Michael Carrick (Man United) |
Fernando Torres looks to have ended his long-standing relationship with Nike after wearing the Predator LZ for a third successive week. The Chelsea striker came off the bench wearing the UCL colourway. We don't think Nike will lose any sleep over seeing the Spaniard jump ship. |
Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick is another player who prefers to wear the standard edition King models ahead of the SL boots. Carrick was in action wearing the updated White/Orange/Ocean colourway as the league leaders beat struggling QPR 2-0. |
Sebastian Rincon (Portland Timbers) |
Lionel Messi (Barcelona) |
Some colourways pick up minimal player support, often due to the brand's wanting their professional elite to wear a certain boot. The Green/Blue f50 might be a rare sight across Europe but was seen this past weekend on the feet of Portland Timbers midfielder Sebastian Rincon. |
Adidas will hold out until the Copa del Rey semi-final clash between Barcelona and Real Madrid before unleashing Lionel Messi's new signature design. The Argentine was in action wearing the standard launch boots as Barcelona beat Sevilla 2-1 and continued their imperious run an inevitable La Liga title |
