Nike Launch LunarEpic Flyknit : Footwear : Soccer Bible

The Nike Flyknit juggernaut shifts another gear with the introduction of the LunarEpic Flyknit, featuring more mid-height collar goodness inspired by the Magista Obra football boot.

Since the introduction of the Magista Obra ahead of the 2014 World Cup, Nike have been busy working up various concepts using the technology to benefit other sports. The Magista Obra's purpose was to allow the foot, ankle and lower leg to work together as a single unit to naturalise movement and fluidity, so the natural sport to venture into next and replicate that same sensation is of course, running.

The LunarEpic Flyknit is constructed with a lightweight, one-piece upper with a snug fit at the arch, heel and forefoot. As with the Magista Obra on the pitch, the LunarEpic uses the slightly taller mid-height collar for that lockdown feel, with Flywire cables knitted in for additional strength and fit.





The midsole uses a new dual-injection technology. Using heat, instead of glue, two foams are fused into one piece that still features traditional Lunarlon construction, with an IU foam carrier and soft IP core. That Lunarlon sole is something else though isn't it? Built to ensure the smoothest ride possible with Lunaron foam to maximise cushioning and traction to complement the Flyknit upper for a fit that adapts to the body in motion. Whether that's long distance, short distance are a fully brutal pre-season session.
