Day 2 of the Nike Innovation Showcase took us to AS Roma’s Trigoria training ground, following the club’s emphatic 5-1 Champions League win over CKSA Moscow the night before. The plan for the day? To test our abilities in a series of exercises designed to showcase the attributes of each Nike boot silo. Arriving at the facility, we kitted up in the latest Nike training wear, including the Nike Mercurial Flylight shin-pads, before catching some of Roma’s first team enjoying a light training session. We headed over to our designated pitch that had been treated to a truck-load of new Nike football boots including the Mercurial Superfly IV, Magista Obra, HyperVenom Phantom and Tiempo Legend V new season colourways.
While day 1 focused on testing the Elastico Superfly, day 2 was all about the boots. After the training exercises we were thrown into an 11-a-side game and were given the choice of footwear to select. The overwhelming favourite was the “Neo Turquoise” Legend V; another reminder that the Tiempo is still the champion Nike silhouette. Watching pitch-side was one of Nike’s most recognised Tiempo advocates, Ashley Cole. The Roma new-boy was in good form after the match, sticking around for obligatory selfies and a chat about how he’s enjoying his time so far at the club. What he's liking best about life in Italy? “The weather and the women”, explained Ash. Hard to argue with that and after just two days in the city we knew exactly what he was talking about.
