The Nike Elastico Superfly landed with two traction patterns and two colourways, a TF edition sole built for turf and artificial grass and the Indoor (IC) edition featured here in "Laser Orange" with an outsole specifically designed for harder surfaces including concrete, sports halls and courts.
Nike have acknowledged the sheer pace of growth in the small-sided game and the dramatic increase in standard and have tweaked their Mercurial Superfly IV to create the most innovative top-end futsal shoe to hit the market.
Nike’s Product Manager for Small-Sided Football Marian Dougherty, explains how they took the performance benefits of the Mercurial Superfly IV and added important details for the small-sided player. “The upper is almost identical to the Mercurial Superfly, but with some key details that small-sided players have highlighted and that we see from playing as well as watching the game."
Nike worked to add flexibility and to decrease the distance between the foot & ground to help the player get closer to the sensation of playing barefoot and enhance underfoot ball control.
The small-sided game has arguably more short, sharp turns than 11-a-side so that Superfly locked-in fit becomes somewhat more essential and that's what the Flyknit upper and Dynamic Fit Collar provide. NikeSkin is again used on top of the Flyknit upper while an extra layer is deployed in areas where small-sided players experience additional abrasion.
The Nike Elastico Superfly IC is available to pre-order now and will be in selected online stockists including Pro-Direct Soccer from Oct 9. Futsal players, bagging a pair of these?
