The Brasil national team home jersey wasn't always yellow. Brasil wore white and blue kits for ove half a century, right up until they lost the 1950 World Cup Final to Uruguay in their own back yard. The first yellow and green jersey was worn in 1954 and was the result of a national competition, inspired by the colours of the national flag.
Nike and Brasil's 18 year partnership is one of the most widely recognised in the game. The most successful shirt of the collection has to be the 2002 World Cup winning jersey which triggered another star being placed above the crest. The eagle-eyed amongst you would have spotted a fifth star on the 1998 shirt, a time when Brazil had only won 4 World Cups. Looks like Nike were getting ahead of themselves when mocking that one up!
The yellow jersey, called Amarelinha or Little Yellow One is the home shirt for the most successful football team in the world.
