As the countdown to Rio continues, and the summer tournament draws nearer, Nike have unveiled their new Mercurial Tropical pack. We've already seen re-released Vapors from previous World Cups but now the Swoosh have dropped another distinctive collection inspired by the host country.
Bold new graphics and colours draw inspiration from the jungles of Brazil to offer an energetic collection of unique Mercurials. The unique patterns take inspiration from the shapes and colours of the Amazon, the world’s largest and most biodiverse tropical rainforest, the majority of which is in Brazil.
The current pre-World Cup inspired Mercurial releases now stands at seven. The trio of Amazon colourways join a quartet of Vapors that make up the Fast Forward series, with each boot influenced by a famous Vapor of World Cups gone by.
Only 2500 pairs of each boot will be released, with a unique number printed onto the heel of each boot. The three colourways are officially labelled as Laser Orange, Flash Green and, the one we're favouring, Hyper Turquoise. The tropical print is digitally printed, allowing for graphics that won’t compromise the All Conditional Control (ACC) finish.
Brazil is a country rich in culture and heritage and that's reflected in the majority of pre-World Cup boot releases across all brands. The landscapes, flamboyant people and colourful atmosphere have given brands the perfect inspiration to design boots. It might be a bit more restricted should the World Cup have been in England, a 'London Pack' made up of red telephone boxes, damp tube seats & the Queen's face might not have had the same effect.
Tech wise the Tropical Pack designs sit on top of a lightweight, leather grain Teijin upper and ACC technology is used to ensure the boots perform just as well in wet weather as dry. The soleplate is as you were but it's all about the visuals with the Tropical Pack as Nike drop another checkpoint on the road to Rio.
The new Nike Mercurial Tropical Pack will be available from selected online retailers including Pro-Direct Soccer. What do you think, got a favourite? Let us know. Join the conversation online, on Twitter and on Facebook.
