Ahead of the Magista launch Nike hooked up their Academy players with a batch of the game changing prototype boots to run the rule over. In October last year the Nike Academy laced up in the Magista boots to put the new technology through its paces at St George's Park and to provide feedback to the Swoosh.
Nike selected a number of players who were each provided with a pair of the innovative Magistas to slip on and take for a test drive in a training session. The reaction from the players, as you would expect, was interesting. The majority of the squad were intrigued by the design and were eager to try them out.
The boots, which provide improved fit, touch and traction are designed for the needs of the creative playmaker using Nike Flyknit technology. Nike worked closely with their contracted players such as Andres Iniesta and Mario Gotze during the testing phase but also seeked additional input from the own Academy of players.
Iniesta, whose feedback was pivotal in the production of the Magista said “The fit of this boot is so unique that I don’t think about it when I’m wearing it. It allows me to move the way I need to instinctively and with more confidence.”
