The launch of the Tiempo Legend V gave a new personality to Nike's most revered silo and the venue for this event reflected those newfound characteristics. An underground Nike space in Shoreditch, London provided the setting for the brands latest show that was attended by a select group of media and young hopefuls.
As well as calling upon Rizzle Kicks and Chelsea and England left back Ashley Cole, Nike invited along some of London's top footballing youth talent and select competition winners who were kitted out with the new Tiempo Legend V boots before making their way to Shoreditch Park for a training session with Nike coaches.
It was chance for the players to trial the fifth generation Tiempo under the frosty London floodlights as Nike's elite coaches set up drills to underline the importance of touch, control and possession, three aspects that define the Tiempo. Ashley Cole watched on as the players moved into a game and Chelsea's number 3 rounded off the session with a few words of advice and encouragement for the young hopefuls.
Swapping Tiempo Legends for Tiempo 94's Cole and the rest of the Nike assembly made their way back to the swanky Hoxton Gallery to talk to the media. In a relaxed environment of 90's arcade machines and dimly lit orange neon lights projecting onto Tiempo artwork, Cole sat down with us to talk about his new boots, his partnership with Nike and England's aspirations at the World Cup (Stay tuned for the full interview).
Speaking about the Nike Tiempo Legend V boots Ash told us "They're a great boot, I've always enjoyed wearing Nike boots. Since they've changed the leather, they've made them a little bit tighter, you don't think they can get any more comfortable than the last boots but now these Tiempos are even more comfortable."
