On Sunday, Nike put on a twelve hour festival of sports in Rio de Janeiro to celebrate Brazil's passion for sport. Captured in this new video from Nike, the event was attended by runners, skaters and footballers alike and culminated in the unveiling of the new Brazil home kit to be worn during the 2014 World Cup.
Kicking the event off was a Nike river run that saw 12,000 participants start from the Monumento Pracinhas and cover a distance of either 5k or 10k. Later on in the day football and skateboarding took centre stage with various competitions, the winners of which won the right to take the stage with Luiz Gustavo and present the new shirt.
Brazilian national team manager Luiz Felipe Scolari stopped by to cast judgement on his sides new uniform. "I think it's a jersey that is well adapted to both Brasilian football and players. It will unite our spirit."
Despite the rain thousands stuck around for the grand shirt unveiling, featuring Brazilian legend Ronaldo, and for the live music laid on afterwards. A celebration indeed that was summed up perfectly by Trevor Edwards, Nike's president "If Nike were a country, it would be Brazil. Brazil loves soccer and the world loves soccer in Brazil."
