For Nike the month of October belongs to Cristiano Ronaldo. Last week the American sports giants made it signature shoe no.6 for the Portuguese ace, extending football's most flamboyant line of boots. Ahead of their in-store launch, we've taken a further look at just what Nike have delivered this time around.

A signature boot is designed to capture the essence of what makes a player unique, and Nike and Cristiano have certainly showcased that with this latest release. Much like their inspiration, many of these designs split opinion. You either love them or hate them, but you certainly can’t ignore them.





Officially marked as the sixth signature shoe to the CR7 collection, the new Mercurial IX CR7 Galaxy features a matte silver swoosh emblazoned on top of a deep blue and black galaxy print. The all over print is of the Star Vela Supernova and includes a seven star path print, paying homage to Cristiano's shirt number.

When tasked with designing the next generation CR7 boot, Denis Dekovic - Nike Footwear Design Director - took inspiration from the players unique abilities. "The concept of a star that burns brighter than others reflects Cristiano's style, speed and the idea that as a player he plays without limit - much like the outer reaches of the galaxy."

"What Cristiano is able to achieve on the field is something that we felt was limitless. So we took that direction and focused on creating a highly luxurious finish fused with modern print and color choices."



Apart from its unique design the use of Japanese microfiber material, as seen on Ronaldo's previous models, also sets this edition apart from the standard Mercurial Vapor IX football boots. The upper material has a leather finish applied to it and is obviously something that Ronaldo favours.
