Retrospect: Nike Tournament Packs - Football News

There's no doubt that the 2014 World Cup will be the World Cup to go to, the Brazilians know how to throw a party and the Road to Rio will be an epic footballing festival. For Nike it promises to be a big one and we're expecting them to bring something pretty special to the party boot wise.

We've taken a look back at all three of Nike's international tournament packs as speculation mounts around what the Swoosh might have up their sleeves for Brazil 2014 and how they'll present their two new toys - Neymar and the HyperVenom...





EURO 2008 - Nike's first special edition pack dropped for the 2008 Euro Championships in Austria and Switzerland. You'll notice there was only three boots in the collection as this was 2008 BC-TR (Before CTR), that won't catch on will it, moving on... The Mercurial Vapor IV, T90 Laser II and Tiempo Legend II featured vintage crafted brown leather uppers placed on top of vivid blue soleplates. The collection was inspired by the host countries of the 2008 European Championships and the style of boots seen on-field during the 1954 World Cup in Switzerland.

World Cup 2010 - The Nike Elite Series landed for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, a unique two-tone colourway was spread across all five of the brand's silos, the CTR, T90, Mercurial, Superfly and Tiempo each featuring (apart from the Mercurial) a carbon fibre soleplate. The Metallic Mach Purple and Total Orange colourway was an aggressive tactic adopted by Nike to make the Elite Series pack unmissable on pitch and whether you loved or hated it you couldn't deny that it was exactly that, unmissable.





EURO 2012 - The Nike Clash Collection dominated pitches across Poland and Ukraine in EURO 2012. Each silo was given a distinctive splash of colour on the heel to distinguish it's identity. The Clash pack were the undisputed stand-out boots of Euro 2012, hammering home 46 of the 76 goals scored at the tournament. Fernando Torres wore the T90 Laser to pick up the Golden Boot award and player of the tournament Andres Iniesta was laced up in the CTR. Tough act to follow...
