The revolution of five-a-side football has ignited a new breed of football shoes. Nike have launched an all new range of football performance and street footwear - titled FC247 - geared for the variety of surfaces on which the game is played, with design innovations specific to respecting playing styles.
A fresh take on their Nike5 family of shoes, the new FC247 collection includes exciting updates in design to the Bomba Finale, Elastico Finale and Lunar Gato. The all new Bomba Finale II, launching in a striking orange and black colourway, is built for brute force at high speed.
For the Bomba Finale II, Nike have taken a fresh approach to the shoes design. The Bomba is Nike's most physical football shoe, built for the physical nature of outdoor five-a-side football. The new Bomba Finale II has been redesigned to tackle some of the issues players experienced with the previous shoe.
Firstly the shot shield has been removed and replaced with a rubber grind to add grip and durability, while also helping to make the shoe 10 percent lighter at just 268g. In total there are 27 percent less components, creating a cleaner, softer and more flexible shoe. A 3D textured upper provides superior touch across the forefoot.
As with the Elastico Finale II, the Bomba utilises a new technology called Nike Skin - a polyurethane skin layered over performance mesh, resulting in shoes that are lighter and thinner than their predecessors. Both have a closer, stitch-free fit, and the mesh geometry combines with a seamless vamp to aid closer ball control.
In addition to the Nike Skin technology, the Nike Bomba Finale II features Nike’s All Conditions Control (ACC) technology for consistent ball control in dry and wet conditions. Conical studs for quick rotation help aid the rapid turns made in small-sided games while oblong studs help provide excellent traction and stability on the turf.
New insights have help guide Nike to create FC247. "As the global population increases, spaces to play 11-a-side are more difficult to come by. We’ve seen a huge increase in players playing more small-sided games, because it’s that much easier to access." — Phil McCartney, Nike Football, VP of Football Footwear
Nike have always had a strong grip on the Fives market, and with the launch of FC247 they're continuing to innovate the small sided game. The three new shoes - the Bomba Finale II, Elastico Finale II and Lunar Gato II - provide a balance of speed, control, comfort and precision to help improve your game.
The new Nike Lunar Gato II, Nike Bomba Finale II and Nike Elastico Finale II will be available at online retailers and Nike stockists beginning March 28. What do you think of the new FC247 collection? Join the conversation online, on Twitter and on Facebook.
