Nike kick start their 2012 line-up with the new Purple/Silver Mercurial Superfly III football boots. A bright reminder of where the Superfly III series began, the new Purple colourway is another exciting addition to football's most vivid boot silo!
Scheduled for a 17th December on pitch launch, the new Purple/Silver Nike Mercurial football boots are ready to land on the feet of Nike superstars including Mesut Ozil, Eden Hazard, Theo Walcott and (most fittingly) Alexis Sanchez! Check out our exclusive first look and share your thoughts online, on Twitter and on Facebook.
After the recent CR7 release, Nike have dropped their sixth Nike Superfly III colourway for their complete Mercurial roster. After the immensley popular Volt release worn by a countless number of Nike professionals, the new Purple/Silver editions might have their work cut out if they're to tempt the likes of Didier Drogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic!
With an eventual redesign in line for Euro 2012, the Nike Superfly III range may be in its final stretch. The latest Purple/Silver Nike Mercurial is nothing short of what we've come to expect - a bold design that won't shy away from the cameras. With three tones of purple making up the upper, the new colourway does distinguish itself from previous designs.
Nike seem to save their most eccentric and eye-catching colour schemes for the Mercurial range, which is perhaps one of the reasons they have such a cult following! Whether it's Cristiano Ronaldo or Neymar, the Superfly's have their reputation because they are designed for speed. The new Purple/Silver colourway looks to be the perfect combination for Barcelona duo Alexis Sanchez and Pedro!
No other football boot screams speed quite like the Nike Mercurial range. The new purple lightning bolt on the new Nike Mercurial Superfly III is slightly toned down, matching the main upper of the boot. Although we're all in favour of a one-tone colourway, we don't know how much this serves Nike's claims to enhance on-pitch visibility.
The Nike Superfly III tips the scales at 210g – a figure Nike may look to reduce for the eventual successor. One of the Superfly's main features – the unique adaptive traction system – still features but may also have a limited shelf life. For all of the technology in the Nike Superfly III range, the main selling point remains its bold design – an area where the new Purple/Silver colourway certainly delivers!
Whereas other boots look to deliver speed through minimum weight, the Nike Superfly III focuses on accelerating you to your top speed as quick as possible. The unique Vapor traction pattern and direct inject dual density heel studs give rock-steady stability and explosive acceleration.
You will be able to get your hands on a pair of the new Purple/Silver Nike Mercurial Superfly III football boots from January 1st. Expect to see Nike's latest colourway on pitch from this weekend (17.12.11). The boots will retail worldwide for around £275 GBP / $400 USD / €330 EURO.
