The Nike Tiempo is the boot that kicked it all off for Nike, their longest serving boot silo was introduced to the global audience back at the 1994 World Cup. So as you can imagine it's a boot that retains a certain prestige, and Nike have really given it a classy look with these White/Gold versions.
The standard Legend IV's are proving to be as popular a choice as the Elite versions, and the player who springs to mind when looking at these new White/Gold Nike Tiempo Legend IV football boots is Javier 'Chicharito' Hernandez, although we could equally see Gerard Pique or Andrea Pirlo stepping onto the pitch these stylish football boots.
So what are some of the differences between the Elite and standard versions? Well, the new White/Gold Nike Tiempo Legend IV features an upper combined of super soft k-leather and Nike's revolutionary Kanga-Lite material. While the leather importantly surfaces the front of the boot for excelled touch, the Kanga-Lite is used in the lateral mid-foot and heel area to offer additional support whilst improving the boots water retention.
The quilted stitching is one of the key elements of the new Nike Tiempo Legend IV soccer shoes and is essential in providing a new level of touch and feel. The new diagonal stitching, inspired by the 10R Ronaldinho Dois, prevents the boot from over-stretching while providing superb comfort and a clean surface for a great natural feel.
After 17 years of the iconic Nike Tiempo tongue, the new Tiempo Legend IV has made the potentially controversial move to completely redesign the tongue. For Nike's latest generation heritage boot, a new memory foam based tongue has been included that shapes to the natural contours of the foot, creating a smoother foot shape for accurate kicking contact. A carefully positioned slit avoids any unwanted bone and tendon contact.
Another new feature found in the Nike Legend IV is the 'FITSOLE' sockliner, that has previously been used in Nike running shoes. Now customized for football, the new sockliner is thinner, bringing your foot lower to the ground. The synthetic leather cloth material with non-slippage patterns on the surface allows the side-to-side movement required in football.
The new heel design has been rolled out across the whole Legend IV range. The Nike Legend has always had the iconic stripe piece on the heel. Now for the Tiempo Legend IV, this classic design feature has been made functional as well as iconic. The coloured diagonal heel stripes have been designed to increase the boots visibility, enhancing your team-mates peripheral vision towards the shoe.
The Nike Tiempo Legend IV comes fully equipped with an all new FG sole-plate. Unlike the previous Legend III, the new outsole is made from a one piece TPU plate. Side bars in the mid-foot area are designed to provide torsion strength while the four rear studs are angled inwards to reduce the heel pressure. Very small studs in the toe and heel area of the Nike Tiempo Legend IV football boots provide extra traction for the toe off, which are accentuated by the plain white studs, which have a slightly pronounced tip.
White Nike Tiempo's are certainly a popular choice among the Tiempo players, with athletes including Javier Hernandez, Carlos Puyol, and David Luiz all ending the 10/11 season wearing white Nike Legend III boots. We expect the new white/gold Tiempo Legend IV soccer shoes to see a lot of action when they arrive on-pitch.
The new Whtie/Gold Nike Tiempo Legend IV soccer shoes are available to pre-order now for a 1st October launch, and will be priced at around £120 GBP / $150 USD / €135 EURO.
