Many Mercurial fans will have fond memories of the Orange Peel Vapor IV's sported by the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Didier Drogba, and these new Vapor VII soccer shoes are just as eye-catching as their distant relative. But what do the fans think? Take a look and share your thoughts with the SoccerBible community online, on Twitter and on Facebook.
The Nike Mercurial Vapor pre-dates the Superfly football boots as the original boot worn by Cristiano Ronaldo. So it seems only fitting that this modern Vapor receives the same treatment as the Superfly, and is adorned with a colour that will no doubt conjure up some great memories of Cristiano back in 2008 on dazzling runs and record goal-scoring feats, playing in the Vapor IV's with their iconic lace-cover.
With an eye-catching new colourway, Nike are sending their new Vapor VII range into the new season with one aim; to get noticed! Nike's newest Mercurial colour-way has been seen in competitive action already this summer on the international stage in the Copa America, but they're set to make a big splash when the 11/12 season comes around!
Designed to 'put players in the spotlight', the new Nike Vapor VII has been created to enhance visibility to your teammates! The new striking heel pattern is designed to decrease team-mates decision making time by making it easier for them to spot you on the field. The ultimate aim is to create a faster pass rate to strikers and wingers.
One of the key differences of the new Nike Vapor 7 football boots is the removal of the lace-cover. The lace-cover, that has featured on the Vapor series since the iconic Mercurial Vapor IV, has been removed by Nike and is no longer one of the key distinguishing features that separates it from its Superfly relation.
The new Orange/Black/Volt/Silver upper of the Mercurial Vapor VII is constructed from the same Teijin micro-fibre that is designed to improve comfort, flexibility and help a players touch. The upper is enhanced with specifically placed 'ball-control coating' on the lateral forefoot, to aid control of the ball at top speed.
One of the Vapor's stand-out features is still present on the Nike Vapor 7 football boots. The Tepex glass-fibre chassis, that has become a Vapor favourite, brings you close to the Vapor's enhanced traction elements. The Vapor Traction II design means the forefoot studs are shaped to offer multi-directional traction, with central arms for acceleration/deceleration and optimal sprint traction.
The Vapor 7's sole-plate includes the same direct injected studs that incorporates 8 cored-out studs to provide a dramatic 12% weight reduction whilst enhancing strength and durability. Acceleration and sprinting is further enhanced by concentrated forefoot zonal spikes, inspired by tracks spikes to optimise grip at toe-off for an extra burst of speed, giving you an advantage over the opposition.
Nike have retained the lower price for the new Vapor 7 soccer shoes, which was previously set at £180, so they now come in around £150 GBP / $240 USD / €170 EURO. Expected to be available from 1st August, these stunning new Orange/Black/Volt/Silver Nike Mercurial Vapor 7 football boots are available to pre-order now.
A great new addition to the range and with a hint of nostalgia, we're sure the Cristiano Ronaldo fans are going to love these new Nike Mercurial Vapor VII football boots. Have your say and join the conversations with the SoccerBible community online, on Twitter and on Facebook.
