As with Cristiano Ronaldo’s first signature boot, Nike have released a Vapor CR7 boot featuring the Nike Safari print this time in a striking tonal black-on-black, plus there's all the high-performance innovation we've come to expect from the Mercurial range. Check out our full, exclusive and up-close photography of the new Nike Vapor VII CR7 football boots...
Originally inspired by the Nike Air Safari running shoe introduced in 1987. The print has been reinvigorated on the second evolution of Cristiano Ronaldo’s boot, wrapping the entire boot and laces for a bold blacked-out effect, with a distinctive volt green geometric pattern on the heel and trademark swoosh wrapping the forefoot.
You can expect it will be the CR Vapor Superfly III football boots that dominate the headlines, as they're the boots Cristiano Ronaldo will step onto pitch wearing. But it's worth remembering it was the Mercurial Vapor that paved the way for the Mercurial Superfly – and is the original Nike Speed boot!
The Nike Mercurial Vapor boot range has an army of loyal fans unlike any other boot out there, so we expect there to be a strong reaction to the new CR Safari's. Which will be first seen on-pitch when Cristiano Ronaldo debuts the CR Mercurial football boots during “El Clasico” on Saturday, April 16th.
Visually, the new Vapor football boots have undergone the same new paint work as the CR7 Superfly III boots and now feature the updated geometric pattern on the heel. The new Vapor 7 soccer shoes are Nike's most visible due to their unique artwork and are designed to 'put players in the spotlight', by enhancing visibility to your team-mates!
One of the key differences of the new CR Nike Vapor 7 football boots is the removal of the lace-cover. The lace-cover, that has featured on the Vapor series since the iconic Mercurial Vapor IV, has been removed by Nike and is no longer one of the key distinguishing features that separates it from its Superfly relation.
If you're thinking the new Cristiano Ronaldo Mercurial Vapor VII soccer cleats look more streamlined, then you'd be correct. Nike have altered the construction of the toe box by lowering it for better ball contact. The upper is constructed from the same Teijin micro-fibre that is designed to improve comfort, flexibility and help a players touch. The upper is enhanced with specifically placed 'ball-control coating' on the lateral forefoot, to aid control of the ball at top speed.
One of the Vapor's stand-out features is still present on the Nike Vapor 7 football boots. The Tepex glass-fibre chassis, that has become a Vapor favourite, brings you close to the Vapor's enhanced traction elements. The Vapor Traction II design means the forefoot studs are shaped to offer multi-directional traction, with central arms for acceleration/deceleration and optimal sprint traction. As a result, the boot delivers superb traction and responsiveness to ensure the fastest players in the world capitalize on the tightest of scoring opportunities.
Directionally positioned blades maximize cutting and allow for quick changes of direction, while secondary toe traction provides added toe-off power for those first critical steps. Collectively, these design details allow greater speed and quickness in all directions.
The CR Mercurial Vapor football boots give all footballers who purchase the boots the opportunity to train like Cristiano, by giving exclusive access to training insights from top players and coaches through Nike Football+. Each pair of boots comes with a unique user code to unlock insider tips and Master Speed training content.
