Football Boots Vault: Nike Mercurial Pink Football Boots

With the reveal of the latest Nike Mercurial Vapor Superfly II colourway, the SoccerBible opens up the Boot Vault once more to bring you a retrospective look at the original Pink Football Boots - the Nike Mercurial Vapor IV Pink.
  It's been almost two years since the launch of the famous Pink Nike boots, which caused quite a stir in football and subsequent media a like. Plenty of column inches and airspace time was dedicated to these football boots - eventually debuted by Arsenal's Nicklas Bendtner (Cristiano Ronaldo was rumoured to be the original debutant) so we dug out our pair of pristine soft ground Vapor IV's to give them a 2010 reflection.   Frank Ribery also became the coolest cat with his comic take on the Pink Pather, which proved to be a huge viral video hit.       You'll be lucky to get your hands on a pair of these today, as with all concept boots these were released in a very limited run - which only increased their popularity. Now the reserve of collectors and lucky auction site winners, the Pink Nike Vapor boots have a special place in history and are another testament to the impact Nike have on the top flight game.     The Nike Mercurial Vapor IV Pink Berry football boots followed a sleek, lightweight design made from a Teijin synthetic leather upper which adjusts to the foots shape. The revolutionary internal chassis offers instant acceleration through a contoured sockliner with EVA inserts offering reduced stud pressure. The Nike Vapor IV still is a favourite with many players today.     The latest Nike football boot to adopt the vibrant colour option is the new Nike Mercurial Vapor Superfly II, which Nike have updated with a host of technology, innovation and design in these two short years that span the release of both boots.   We love that this Nike Vapor IV was released as the Berry edition, whilst the new Superfly II comes to us in Cherry. Fruits certainly seem to feature highly in the Nike colour department!     At the time, the Vapor was the still the star of Nike's speed range.
